Before I overclock, are my temps too high?

Thread Starter
For the system that's in my signature below...

On prime95, blend test, with 4 threads running, and CPU at 100% load, the temperature shoots up from my idle of 30C to 50C right away and then after about 2 hours its up to between 52 to 54C.

I have the Noctua NH-D14 and then 6 other case fans on my HAF X. Two of the fans are intake, 4 are exhaust.

Are my temperatures too high? I am at stock 3.3 GHz.

Thank you!

Thanks for the response! What would be an acceptable max?

I haven't had neither your cooler or your CPU, but 40-45C stock load is about the high norm for aftermarket air cooling @stock freq.

Wow, so I'm quite a bit off. Besides reapplying thermal paste, is there anything else I can do?

Mmm nope. Check your voltages too, but they should be normal if everything is stock.

This thread has got my attention now. I just bought a 2600k and a NH-D14. I have been folding with it the past couple days and the max temps I have hit are 58-59C on stock. Is this bad for a 2600K?

No, intels have much higher temp limit than AMD cpus, so the CPU is fine up until the 80s or 90s (I think). But it's not a comfortable temp for any stock CPU with aftermarket cooling

Seems high for stock speed. I run a 2600k with H50 @ 4.2Ghz folding.
My temps hit low/mid 50c at full load 24/7 low 30c at idle.
Edit: 1.225v vcore.

So it sounds like the only thing I can do is reapply the thermal paste and remount the heatsink and hope for the best?
