New Build

Thread Starter
I've thinking about a new rig because I have an i7 920 that I got like a year ago as a gift. I just couldn't use it because X58 motherboard was pretty expensive back then. Now, they are pretty cheap. On Evga B-Stock, they had an EVGA X58 mAtx for $70. Should I go for it? Here's my log.

i7 920

Ripjaws 1600 mhz 4gb (more suggestions plzz)

EVGA X58 mATX

OCZ Vertex 2 90 GB + 1tb Barracuda as storage

GTX 480? (Also B-Stock) $220 Way too tempting

How does it look? This computer isn't gaming or anything. Just building it since I already have most of the parts except SSD and Graphic Card.

I say go for it if you have the spare funds, why not? The evga b-stock is a great place to find some amazing deals. If you pick up an matx board you could even looking into making the setup a dedicated htpc (mucho overkill though ). Since the board is lga 1366 you should go with either 3gb or 6gb of ram (triple channel), anything more would be a complete waste. Also, if you won't be doing much gaming with this build then you could grab a gtx 460 maybe for around $100 since it draws much less power and doesn't produce nearly as much heat as the 480.
