Mixing two different ram with different CL and voltage

Thread Starter
So I have these and I bought these and I was planning to go with only the new ones. But then I though that what if I keep the old ones too. So do I have to do something to volts and timings? Or will it work just fine like that?

If you need to know something else just ask.

You'll have to run them all at the slower timings of both kits and run them at the higher voltage os the two.

Dependent on northbridge and motherboard you may have trouble running 4 dimms without increasing vMCH. As for ram timings you should in theory be limited to the speed of you slowest stick but again northbridge constraints may mean you have to underclock the ram or slacken the timings.

Holy crap those OCZ are 1.9 volts, don't mix those two.

That Kingston kit is only 1.65volts, if you ran them at the 1.9volts they would burn up quick I'd say.

The only thing you may be able to do is try to raise the timings of the OCZ and see what volts it takes to run them stable. If you can get at or under 1.65 volts then you may try using them. But I figure they're pretty hungry since they are designed for X38/X48 chipset mb's.

Ok biggrin.gif Well thank you for info.

I think I go with the 8 gb only then. Thanks all!
