Another cooler to consider, though, is the Corsair A70. You can sometimes find it for as cheap as $20 after rebate, and it comes with two fans and features another heatpipe and more fin area than the 212+, so is generally considered stronger.
Not sure what those guys were doing that came up with worse results w/ the h50, because I have used a 212+, Mugen2, and h50 all on the same rig, and the h50 was the coolest by nearly 10C when using push/pull CM R4's, same as I used on mugen2, and 212+.
I got them all pretty cheap, and they were all good options, mugen2 was most expensive at $42 after shipping, and largest, most pain in the butt. 212+ was great price/performance considering I paid $20 for it microcenter because I was sick of the mugen2's size. h50 was only $30 at BestBuy, so I got that to try out, and it pwned the 212+.
After trying the h50, and seeing the great results I started thinking about modding it w/ new tubes, and such, then decided just to order a xspc kit, and now I'm super happy with my temps.
