Well I installed Ubuntu

Steam wouldn't install. I'm having bad luck so far.

X Error of failed request: BadLength (poly request too large or internal Xlib length error)
Major opcode of failed request: 65 (X_PolyLine)
Serial number of failed request: 1348
Current serial number in output stream: 1355

This is the steam error (happens during patching)

I'll be honest, I have little to no experience with WINE, so I can't help you with that.

If you're planning to use Linux as a drop in replacement for Windows, you'll probably be very disappointed for numerous reasons [no offense]. Linux just isn't Windows.

I had similar problems with my fake RAID setup. At the time, Fedora 13 worked right out of the box and not Ubuntu. Fedora used mdraid which worked with my setup.
