Studio Monitors

Thread Starter

Hello everyone!

I'm currently in the market for a 2.0 audio setup that has a enough bass without the use of a subwoofer. I've been reading alot lately about studio monitors due to their clear sound and accuracy. What I need to find out now is which ones have the clear sound but also the strong low bass that I'm looking for. Below I have pasted a few links to some of the monitors I'm looking at right now. If any of you have had experience or currently using studio monitors for your audio setup please give me some feedback or suggestions of what to buy. Thanks!

This is a great thread. I'm looking for some good studio monitors as well. I'd love to hear some insight from the OCN folks. There are some real audiophiles here and hopefully a few chime in.

i have the av40's, actually i just got them for my 21st bday, and i am still burning them in but they are pretty darn impressive. They sound pretty neutral, which is great because i listen to so many different genres, and the bass on them is in the sweet spot i would say, not to much and not too little. There does seem to be some distortion when i crank it past 70% or so, but that seemed like it was just the type of songs as acoustic tracks didn't sound bad at all, especially some taylor swift, lol. Like i said tho, i've only run them for about 15 hrs or so since i got them a couple days ago, but for how they sound atm i have no regrets. Also, forgot to mention that the bass boost switch helps bring it out more if you listen to rap, or stuff like dubstep.

Cool, thanks for the feedback. That seems to be exactly what I'm looking for, decent low bass but not to overbearing. Did you also have to buy any special cables or sound card in order to use them with your computer?

I'm gonna be getting the KRK RP-5s sometime this year most likely in the winter, they are a hot selling monitor. Can really reproduce sound neutrally as intended. Look around on youtube or some reviews of em.

nope comes with everything you need in the box, uses a stereo to 3.5mm cable to get sound to your pc, and if you have a good sound card you can just use standard stereo cables to the back of your audio card if that has stereo outputs.

in your rig link it says you have the bx5a's do you really need a new pair of monitors?
although if you decided you do, i'd also suggest getting a sound card to get the best of your speakers unless you already do and it isn't listed in your sig rig.
