First Computer Build. Need Help choosing mother board, and check if I'm missing...

-Case: Coolermaster HAF X
-Mobo: ?
-Hard Drive: Western Digital WD Caviar Black 1 TB SATA 6 GB/S 7200 RPM 64 MB
-Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3 1600 Tripple Channel
-Processor: i7-2600k
-PSU: Corsair CMPSU-850HX 850-Watt HX Professional Series 80 Plus Certified Power Supply
-Video Card: EVGA GTX 570
-Corsair Hydro CPU Cooler (Which one? Or is this even needed?)

So this is my first build. I'm getting some of the parts off craigslist, such as processor and video card. Just not really sure what motherboard. I'd like to keep it less or around 150.

It'd be nice to have the option to put another GTX 570 in there in a few years once games have gotten a bit beyond it. I don't really plan on over clocking it, but options are nice. Let me know if you have any questions.

Also, does anyone see anything I should change? Complete newb here.

I would probably get this z68 board, seems nicely priced for what you get, and looks to have ample room for SLI

I've always liked gigabyte boards, even though they may not be the BEST OC'ers all the time.

And definitely get some type of aftermarket coolers, the Intel ones aren't the best even without overclocking.

Get the 2600k, or else you cant overclock

I would say get a Gigabyte P67 UD4

Also, sandy bridge is dual channel ram, so you have 3 choices, 2x2gb, 2x4gb, 4x4gb

Then go for a XSPC water cooling kit from frozencpu.com

Bro,

1) Coolermaster makes the HAF X, not thermaltake

2) You need dual channel memory for 1155, not triple (you say 12 gb then 16gb?)

3) Get a p67 mobo, not z68 as it is useless.

4) DVD Writer?

5) Get some air cooler, not pre-filled crappy solution.

Do NOT get the Core i7 2600 (non-k), with that you will only be able to get a maximum of 400MHz in terms of overclocking. You need a Core i7 2600-k-. If your gonna overclock than yes, you need an aftermarker cooler. The best depending on budget are: Coolermaster Hyper 212+, Scythe Mugen 2 Rev. B and finally the NH-D14.

My recommendation:

1) HAF X or SilverStone Raven RV02B
2) ASUS P8P67 Pro
3) 1TB Samsung SpinPoint F3
4) 2x4GB G.Skill RipJaws X F3 1600MHz CL9 (dual channel)
5) i5 2500K or i7 2600K
6) SeaSonic X-560 80Plus Gold 560W
7) ASUS GTX 570 DirectCU II (IIRC 6970 > GTX 570, same price I think, too)
8) Noctua NH-D14 CPU cooler (air)

Keep in mind water CPU coolers aren't necessarily quiet

Why the swap to SpinPoint F3?

Also, why the swap to the 560W PSU? I could eventually be adding another graphics card, and up to 3 more hard drives.

I think they are the most reliable. WD Black's, I'm not so sure about. I may be wrong but I don't think so.

In the case of another graphics card (hard drives make no difference) you'd need a larger power supply. 700W should be fine if you don't intend to do any large OC's on the GPUs.

I recommend the DirectCU II models of whatever graphics card you get, as they are great cards. Keep in mind though, if you do, that they take up three slots.

What if I would like to eventually hook up another GTX 570? Could the asus board fit/take that?

This is it right?

Also, I saw 2 things of memory that sounded like what you described, but they have separate timing:

Do you really need hyperthreading?.... the i5-2500k is a monster of a processor, and , in reality, overclocks just as well, if not better, than the 2600k. That's almost $100 that you can put towards another component.

That motherboard is a great choice..... just make sure you go to Asus' website and check the QVL ( in the download section for the motherboard) to check memory compatibility.
