Eyefinity with Three 21.5" monitors

Thread Starter
Here's my situation:

I currently have a 21.5" Dell ST2220L (link). I want to buy two more of the same monitor to run a triple monitor setup. I'll be arranging them side by side so the resolution will be 5760x1080. With a Radeon 6850, I'm not looking to play games at that resolution.

I'm a computer programmer and I feel that the extra screen estate will improve my productivity.

I haven't seen many people with a triple monitor setup using small monitors as most people use Dell U2711/3011s.

Unfortunately, I can't really justify spending over $700 for an IPS panel. Is there a significant difference between my setup and the setups that use high-end IPS monitors?

I had 3 22inch monitors b4, they were fine lol, i loved em, imo 3 30inch is kinda big , to big for my desk anyway. Go the 3 21.5 you will be happy.
GL, can always add another 6850 if ya need to game somewhat.

First off you don't want eyefinity anyways for what your doing. you want extended mode..

I use 1 24" montior and 2 19" monitors. It works just fine. Really, 3 screens is great no matter the monitor.
and you could game at that res just fine... just turn the quality a little down. No big deal really....

You don't need expensive IPS panels. If you orient your displays in a more concave way the effects of TN panels will be far less noticeable (although this may be awkward for a productivity-based workspace)

3x 21.5" is absolutely fine. Personally I don't see the point in 27+" Eyefinity setups. That's just enormous.

Thanks for the input. I'll submit my order for the two monitors sometime next week.

Eyefinity just allows you to expand the window fluidly across 3 screens on 1 massive resolution. If not used for gaming for productivity for programming makes it no different then running the Monitors in an Extended Setup and Eyefinity shouldn't be required unless your doing some 3D design or something and want to have more on your screen.

When I've done some CAD it was very nice having it spanned across 3 screens vs being limited to 1.
