For the price, I would make some bay room and get the Rasa with some real fans.
Stick the bay res in the case tongue.gif

Here's another option, same performance but a lot cheaper biggrin.gif

Or just get XSPC kit + new case < $300

I just looked at your case, and that thing looks a bit small to house everything you had in your OP.

You can do that for $109. And that it will come out more expensive but it will still be cheaper then your original build. Also the kit includes tubing and stuff that wasn't in your build that you will still need.

I don't understand what this is. Is it a pump with a little res on top of it?

If you can find the original MCR220 (non res version) then it would work better and cheaper. Pump is virtually silent and powerful enough for a CPU only loop

I like this idea, I just don't know anything about that pump.

I have a fan controller and a DVD drive. I suppose those could both be removed if I had to...

Anyway, I'm leaning towards the Rasa kit. If I can't stand not having my DVD drive/fan controller, I'll just source some parts to move the pump and res somewhere else.

Will a 240 rad cool a QX6700 at 3.6GHz? How about in push/pull or push with shrouds? I don't have a feel for these things.

240 would be fine, the pump isn't as strong as the 355 but it's enough for a CPU only loop, especially with the rasa. Will be a lot quieter than the 355 too

Noise isn't a real big issue. The ambient noise where I am is pretty high as it is...

Err... custom loop vs. kit... I really want the pride factor of saying I put it together "myself", but the Rasa kit is so cheap.
A custom kit would also allow me to keep my DVD drive and such.

This is a hard choice.

I would say yes, it's doing a fine job w/ my i7 870 right now. I added 2 CM R4's to the ones that came in the kit, and I've dropped around 4C doing push/pull. I have the RS240 radiator on mine, which is thinner than the RX, and designed for higher RPM fans, where the RX is thicker, and can cooler better w/ lower RPM fans.

I've been running prime95 stress testing my i7 4.0ghz OC for the last 3 hours, and it's only gotten up to 68C on the hottest core. most of the time it's been floating between 56-60C.

The QX6700 probably runs a little hotter than the i7, but I wouldn't say to point where you'd have an issue.

When i first got into wc, I had those loons.. The first time I upgraded I got a controller and 3 Scythe Ultra Kaze 3k rpm. I dropped 30c. I don't know if I could cool (2)470s and a 920 with 1 trip rad, but I do with the 980x all day in the summer.

Aquacomputer Cuplex Kryos Pro CPU block. $49.95 (Slightly better performance than the block you were looking at.)
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/aqcocukrprof.html

+ backplate for above. $8.25 (EK universal backplate, but will work with AC block)
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/ekwaekbacpu1.html

Swiftech MCRES revision 2. $22.95
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/swmcmire2re.html

Swiftech MCR220-XP radiator. $51.95 (similar performance to the rad you were looking at, though not as good of paint quality)
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/swmcexperase1.html

Swiftech MCP35x pump. $87.95 (A couple bucks more than the one you were looking at, but you get PWM speed control and better performance)
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/swmc12vdcpu1.html

Same Bitspower 3/8" fittings you were looking at. 2 for $4.50 (Need 6 if you use the plastic fittings that come with the res, so $13.50, or $18 if you go with all metal fittings.
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/big1sishfifo1.html

2x Panaflo 120x38mm Medium Speed FBA12G12M1BX fans. $31.90 (Infinitely better fans than the Yate Loons you are looking at.)
http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/pa12mesp.html

Grand total for a better performing system than what you posted: $270.95 + shipping. (includes 8 of the Bitspower 3/8" barbs, so you don't have to use any plastic fittings.
