$300 Budget Build. Need Advice!

Hello OCer's!

I'm doing a build for my gf and need some advice on parts to use. She mostly uses the computer to do work, Excel, Word, Powerpoint, browse internet, watch movies/tv, and stream internet content. Her budget is about $300 right now +/- a little. Maybe last her 5 years or so.

And I can also make it to my local Microcenter or Fry's.

Microcenter combo deals: http://www.microcenter.com/specials/...ndlePROMO.html

So what I have so far:

CPU - Phenom II X2 560 (Possible Unlock), Phenon II X4 840 or other lower or higher (X4 955)
Looking for the best combo from MC.

MB - Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P mATX, Asus M5A78L-M LX mATX, MSI 880G-E45 ATX, etc.

Not really sure, any of the free MB from MC or ones that you have to pay a bit more for. Looking for one that might be more stable.

RAM - 4GB G.Skill, Corsair, other? 1333 or 1600? Price isn't that much difference between the two. Roughly $20-35

GPU - Onboard? Or cheap card that I can play games on at least CS:S?

PSU - Was thinking maybe Corsair CX430? $35 AR, Maybe something more power?

CASE - Antec 100 $40 AR (Can't change, gf likes this case the best after all we browsed through)

HDD - Samsung Spinpoint 1GB $60

ALREADY HAVE extra - Keyboard/Mice/Asus Monitor/Asus DVD-RW/Hyper212+

Oh, and if the MB already has a onboard graphics, say for example ATI 3000, could I get an Nvidia card and put that on there also.

Thanks for your help. Cheers!

How about getting a cheaper case like a CoolerMaster 310 or 430.

The Corsair 430 should be enough power.
Get a cheap video card like a ATI :

As far as ram and cpu. The dual core amd will be good enough and stay with 4gb 1333mhz, you don't need anymore. As for a gpu..... ehhhh. Idk. Depends on the mobo. I don't know what integrated gfx can do anymore anyways, so idk about the gpu..

RAM should be bought at Newegg for the best price, never or rarely ever at Microcenter. Paying $43 for a DDR3-133 kit is too much when you can get a significantly better DDR3-1600 kit of same size for over $10 less on Newegg shipped

The free boards on Microcenter will only support the 840/555 without unlock safely, as they all have VRMs too weak to handle higher 125W TDP processors.

Any of the onboard video boards with less than the 785G/880G chipset are much weaker in graphics horsepower, as in they won't fully accelerate HD media including YouTube and other HD files (something I consider a minimum standard in build suggestions). You might want to take that MSI 880G mobo (for 95W only and avoid OC) or find yourself a cheap card.

my advice is, get a am3 mobo so you can be more future proof. If you wait for psu cx430 can be found for 20 AR at times.

Yeah, I think I might upgrade the video card a little bit. Would the Corsair PSU be good or should I get an Antec High Current Gamer or any other PSU?

The case is set in stone right now. And I found Corsair XMS3 4GB DDR3 Ram for $20 AR.

I would suggest this

Only slightly over your budget after rebates and $5 promo for the HDD(use your $20 RAM deal)
With Llano CPU you have plenty of gaming and you can crossfire with another GPU down the road.If you don't know that Rosewill Green series PSU is a very good one-OCN rec.

I retract what I said before. Completely forgot about Llano. That's a winner.
