hp zr30w vs Dell u3011 need some advice!

Thread Starter
I'm considering getting 3 of either the u3011 or hp.

Some facts

I need desktop space!! I have 2 27 inch hp 2710"s and I still don't have enough smile.gif

I HATE LAG! I know hp has no scalar and no osd these monitors will be used for gaming photoshop web development work.

the anti glare coating how bad is it on the hp vs Dell I read alot of text and I'm used to the glossy coating right now which I love.

I spend 18+ hours infront of my pc so eye strain etc matter to me

I'm leaning towards the zr30w.

any comments?

Thanks

I have never seen the dell u3011 but I do own the HP and have to say I havent really noticed any anti glare coating. Only bad thing I would say is the monitor came over saturated, but I was able to knock it down a notch in the catalyst control.

The HP is a beautiful monitor as I am sure the u3011 is. So my advice would be to get which ever one you can find cheapest as I am sure you will be happy with either.

Here is a link to the HP open box deal I got on newegg, would be worth the try to check it every couple of days to see if any are in stock. Got mine for $800 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824176177R

The reason why it was oversaturated is because they are wide gamut monitors and for the most part Windows applications are not color aware. You either need to set it to sRGB mode or calibrate it.

I have a U2711 and a U2211H both of which have AG coatings. Neither bother me but there is a coating if you look for it.

What about the lag? I know the Dell U3011 has Scalar+ it's response time is way slower than the HP,

I don't care to hook up an Xbox or anything else to to it, Anyone done a side by side with the HP Vs the dell for gaming? Motion blurr/ghosting etc?

It's strictly PC use!

12 ms is less than a single frame... important to you? I don't know.

Both are dead even for your needs. No lag difference in real world between the two. I chose the Dell in the end cuz it has more options. Get which ever is cheaper

I know why it's over saturated. I was just stating the only con I could find

I've gone ahead and ordered 3 hp zr30w"s

They were like a 100 bucks cheaper than the dells. However how bad is the color saturation?.

without an srgb mode?
imo there's a big difference btwn buying something for $100 vs $200. but little difference btwn $800 and $900. the difference btwn getting a zr30w and a u3011 should not be price. especially for someone getting 2 or 3. look for the features you're after first and foremost.

i dont really like the color for the zr30w. im not at my computer much. (i use my home computer remotely from work like right now. and when i get home i'm too tired to use the computer.) i played with the ati colors and have it at 63000k. by default it appeared to have a "HDR"+bluish tint. at 63000k it looks better so far. i'm still tweaking the monitor so dont take my word for it. my video card is a bit lame too.
i got it simply coz the price was too good and might resale it. and of course the resolution.

my first impression of the color of the lp2465 was very good.
the zr30w not so good coz it cost about the same as all my other monitors combined and i expected it to be perfect. color is a little oversaturated. the blacks are nice. when pausing a video on black it almost looks like the monitor's off. the la24wg has a bluish tint. i didnt notice the leak on other monitors vs the zr30 because that's not important to me. i dont watch movies..

3 30" will take up a lot of space. if i had that money i would only get One to test. and also get a u3011. try each for about a weak return whichever i didnt like then get a second 30. then about a month or 2 after get the 3rd 30 if i really needed it.
its not like you're hurting for monitors.. you already have 2 27".

i would like to personally test a u3011. everyone has their own preferences to what they're looking for in a monitor. and sensitive differentl. it takes one to try these monitors first hand to make a real judgement. online posts are a good guidance but dont say much.

maybe i just need to get used to a "real" monitor coz i'm used to this [xps]m1530 screen.
