Zalman mic only works for random amounts of time

My zalman clip on mic doesn't seem to be cooperating with me. It's currently connected to my onboard audio, and I'm controlling it via "HD vDeck" (installed from my motherboard CD)... but it keeps muting/ceases all voice input after some time.

The only way I can fix this is by reconnecting the mic in its port. I'm pretty sure it's a software issue, since I tried this with a spare zalman mic I had, and the same thing happened.

If you installed drivers from the CD, try going to the manufactuer's website and download the latest ones. The drivers on the Cd are probably months and newer ones may have corrected your issue.

Bump- I tried, but the same thing keeps happening!

Would purchasing a dedicated sound card solve this problem?

I have the same mic and it doesn't work with onboard sound for me. Works great with my sound card though.

Howdy, have you considered the mic port itself might be shorting/damaged ever so slight underneath the hood of your beast of a pc? Not saying it is, but it's a rare possibility.

My old "creative zen 30gb" mp3 player (old yes), I broke the "headphone ring" on top of it... Virtually making me able to "jiggle" my headphone port a bit... Eventually I wondered why it turned off... Seems I could turn off AND on... the mp3 player, from the headphone port purely if I wanted to...
