If you truly want to experience it in full, you have to run it in DX11 with the High-Resolution texture pack, which brings many cards to their knees. A GTX 260 will be able to swim in the glory of DX10 though, which until you can upgrade, is still beautiful.

^No, The big thing about DX11 is tessilation, thats physx your talking about.

The differences are not drastic and are mostly in place to appease high end PC gamers. Most of the differences are only noticable from close up or when standing still. If you are actually playing the game you will hardly notice any difference at all.

I have watched videos comparing... dx11 is much nicer XD it seems tessellation just makes tiny objects render much better and whatever. It just makes all the little things in textures pop out! Like instead of giving a texture shading to look like it has depth, it actually makes it have depth! Soo I'm just going to wait to buy it instead of dowloading because Crytek deserves the money for making amazing games.

Just want to add that the best things about the advancments IMO (other than tessellation) is the parallax mapping which was heavily feautred in Cry1 and can run in DX10, though I dont think it works in cry2 without DX11, which is not how it should be. There is tessellation in cry2 but I suspect that a lot of what ppl think is tessellation is actually parallax mapping.

Everything they did with tessellation in cry2 was simple and most of it could have been done with parallax mapping instead, but nvidia didnt drop 2 mil on cry2 for nothing. They want to push DX11 GPUs.

The ground here look similar to tessellation but is actually parallax mapping. The main difference is that you can see tessellation effects from the side where as parallex mapping will look flat if viewed from a major angle.

I keep saying that DX11 and full settings will bring most cards to its knees. I'm using a GTX560ti and I have all the settings up full and the frames are great. Not ran fraps but you never get any slowness. I am also running i7 920@4ghz and 6gb ocz ram.
