Core i5 760 - Advice needed

Thread Starter
Greetings.....

Honestly I hardly did overclocking......I did once on my old system but it failed
And since I have no cash to buy an aftermarket cooling, I just wanna seek advice to make the most out of my PC with the cooling I have so far.....

Yes it is ridiculous to overclock my CPU with a stock cooler, but I'm sure I can push it a bit, but not a lot

So, would you give me any advice on how much more can I OC my CPU? Until what voltage, Ghz, and so on?
Thank you.....

...Look below for system specs...

I got to 3.6ghz as well when I got my i5-750 last year - but it was very, very hot and I replaced the stock cooler immediately. It was just too risky, high temps = shortens the lifespan of your CPU and raises overheating risk.

You have 2 routes imo - go for a budget, yet decent performing aftermarket cooler like the CoolerMaster 212+ that will let you get to 3.8-4.0, or something with a bit more horsepower to go even higher, or just to be safer on a "mild" OC, such as a Noctua NH-D14/Thermalright Silver Arrow.

Whichever option you take, just remember that it will blow the stock cooler out of the water in terms of cooling performance and even noise.

keep core temps under 80C. Vcore under 1.4v, VTT under 1.4v and within .5v of DRAM Voltage.

I'd just lock in the stock vcore and see how far you can push it. Should be able to hit 3.5-3.6 on stock voltage. Hopefully stock cooler will be enough to handle stock voltage but I wouldn't guarantee it.

Well my target is just 3.2Ghz, so it should be alright right? Whats the correct voltage and BCLK for it?

Assuming your max multiplier is 20 like mine.
Go for 160 BCLK, with your vcore in the 1.2-1.3v range.

For around $50 you can pickup a HSF that will easily let you pull 4ghz. I had my i5 750 @ 4ghz with an h50, load temps (p95 >8 hours) <65c.

Don't bother wasting your money on a cheap HSF, it's maybe $20-30 more for substantially more performance.
