Core i5 760 - Advice needed - Page 2

$20aud CM 212+ gave me 4.0ghz stable, idle @ 20-25deg and load at 50degrees c.

All I did was bump the multi to 20x and put ratio to 200 for 4.0ghz...turn off standard intel clock reduction features such as EIST etc, disable turbo boost, no volt changes whatsoever.

Easy game.

Ah....sounds promising.....Ill save up for that cooler you are using.......so in other words, Turbo Boost is not advisable for overclocking?
Oh by the way, explain to me about EIST....

That was over 2 months ago. Jeesh man get cooler already. All that money in a nice system, scrounge up a few bucks for a decent cooler for it.

No, not really. There are uses for it like getting the +1 multi but that isn't really needed on a 760, or getting the +4 multi for benchmarking. You really should have a pretty good idea what you are doing before venturing down that road though.

Also IMO if you aren't going to overclock over ~3.4 you might as well leave it at stock with turbo on.

Power savings feature. Throttles the CPU down to a lower speed and lower voltage when full power isn't needed.
