Did my first OC!!

Thread Starter
I currently went from a 3.4ghz to a 3.6ghz by using the multiplier to 18x. I set my voltage at 1.35 and things are running smooth, idle is 32c and when i ran prme 95 it was avg. at 53c, and max of 54c. Quick question could i lower my voltage and keep the 3.6 to lower temps or would my temps be about the same regardless if i change them or not? When playing a game it never goes above 43c

Yes you could, higher voltages increase cpu temp. Lower the cpu voltage to 1.3 and run prime95 see if its stable with no errors after 1 hour, if the test fails increase the voltage to stability. Take in consideration the Northbridge speed and ram voltages as they can limite the overclock.

Indeed you can. But to ensure the OC is rock solid I recommended running prime95 over the night as a final test.

ok i just set my northbridge to 2000 ( thats what it is on auto but i put it in manual and it is at 2000). It seems the more voltages i put into manual the lower my cpu temp goes. should i put my voltages to stock voltages manually or leave them on auto???. It is seeming to indicate when voltages are on auto it draws more power thus making it hotter than it really needs to be.So should i put it at manual stock volt or leave them at auto???

I hear a lot of people recommend putting them at manual even if you leave it at default simply because some BIOS like to overvolt without telling you.

Not sure exactly... when you set them to auto does it default to a value?

when its at auto it gives no indication what voltage they're set too, when i did the cpu voltage manually i clicked - and it went to 1.475. So i'm assuming when you do it manually the voltage starts at max and then you can set it to where you want. I can check HWmonitor and see what they are at. Do you think i could do it that way, see where they are in HWmonitor and then go to bios and set them manually at the voltages i see in hwmonitor??
