He even came back to Square (having quit in the middle of Final Fantasy XII's development) just to head up the PSP version.

I imagine it'd be fine. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Tales of the Abyss are being ported to the 3DS with decent results, and I believe the iPad 2 is quite a bit more powerful than the 3DS (I don't know by how much, I don't really follow iOS devices).

Does anyone know how long it takes for a AAA title to be approved in the app store? Homegrown apps take about a week, but I'm hoping there is a way for them to expedite the process for this title.

I remember the first time killing St. Ajora and the feeling of "Damnit...its all over" the following cutscene and follow up from the Durai report. Everything about the game was excellent. I'd rather see a FFT2 come out for a console to follow up where FFT left off or a prequel involving the Beoulve family in the 50 year war.
+1 for an FFT Prequel following Balbanes. I really enjoyed the game and was actually miffed that they never ever even bothered with a follow up. The FFT Advanced games were too much of a deviation for me.

I will say this much though, if you really want to get "more" out of FFT, playing the game via emulator and using the 4 patches make the game extremely fun. You can even edit the game yourself to make it harder, add more enemies per map, give them better items, etc.

In fact, I was shocked when ATLUS made a Tactics Ogre game on GBA that was actually great and very similar to the original with a few differences (the dragon magic were now mostly scrolls). I just wished Square would have done the same. Can you image an FFT2 on PS3 though....

Someone who agrees! FFTA were just too different imo. I enjoyed them a bit, but they never lived up to the original in my opinion. Everyone raves about it though and sometimes I dont understand why.

It could have been the only one they've played, as it was with me. I never played the original, but I logged what seemed like 1,000,000,000 hours on FFTA.

finally! this is great. As others have said probably my favorite game of all time, still pop it in my ps3 every now and then and play it for a while. Im glad they did it right and didnt port over one of the GBA games, those were just terrible imo and i couldnt get into them. This could actually be a great game to play on the go cuz the battles dont take too awful long. Easy way to kill 10-15 minutes at a time. or several hours.

I suppose. Its not that I didnt like FFTA, it just felt like it was something else especially the story.

the 3DS is actually more powerful gaming-wise than the ipad or ipad2
Yes the Ipad2 has a dual core CPU, but its Graphic rendering is not "stronger" than a 3DS. If anything, it maybe equal to the DS normal, hence the porting of FF3 from the DS to the ipad.

Heck i'd argue the PSP is more powerful gaming-wise than the ipad/ipad2

And its too soon for developers to be creating ipad 2 only games/apps, so anything they develop have to suppose the ipad 1 as well
