And OP, maybe your core/vrm temps were too high? If you are using the standard reference card, then 1.1v is pretty high if you don't set the correct fan profile.
Core temps were pretty good, around mid 80s when gaming at max.
Not sure how to check the VRM temps.

But memory was at stock. Before I had the mem OCed too an was getting routine crashes in heavy duty games- Crysis 2 DX11 and Red faction Armageddon, but after putting mem back at stock they went away, but might have caused some some unseen damage to the card

Uhm isn't that called an RMA scam? Once you overclock your hardware you lose the warranty... I'm ready to get flamed bcuz this also happened to be an overclocking site. But anyway put up with it...

Overclocking voids warranty I'm pretty sure, sooo sure go ahead and overclock but I dont think it should be the company paying for a new one...

No...most manufacturers don't kill a warranty for overclocking as long as you don't edit the bios. In fact most manufacturers include overclocking and over volting tools in the box with the GPU.

Wow, now I think I will be running at stock speed until i get my waterblock. Gigabyte is seriously taking over a month to get it back to you? I really hope I dont have to RMA mine. If I were you, I would be calling them doing some serious complaining. You never know they might do something nice for you because a month is seriously unacceptable. Sapphire only took a week before they sent it back when I bricked one of my 5850s.
