I give up on overclocking - letting mobo do it for me

Thread Starter
So i tried and researched and tried and researched to OC my 2600k manually. I have ran out of patience and time. So, I decided to let my UEFI from Asrock do it for me. As of now, I'm up to 4.6 with no BSOD's and so far complete stability.

My temps and voltages are lower than when I tried to do it myself. I have disabled nothing, just left everything as is and upped the "load optimized cpu" setting to 46. If all else goes well, I'll try 48.

So far, I'm happy. My mobo is doing all the work and I can just sit back and reap the benefits.

have a problem with my method? Let the flaming begin!

BTW, I have a Q9300 that I would like to overclock. Its on a P5KC mobo. That one will definitely not be so easy. I'll be asking for alot more help on here when I get into that...

If you're happy with the results, then what's the point of this thread? It sounds like you're just asking for people to flame.

What's your voltage? Because automatic overclocking utilities tend to use way to high voltage which leads to chip degradation.

Greetings from the "Red Camp". I just installed the new ASUS M5A97 EVO with UEFI BIOS and I have to agree with what you are saying. I am able to get a nice solid 3.9 Ghz overclock with 1 click of the mouse and have had zero issues thus far. My veiwpoint is from that of a Gamer, not a "Computer Buff" though, so I guess those that just enjoy tinkering and randomly smoking parts will continue to do so. I do enjoy "tinkering" a bit as well, but my real aim is to have the best performance that I can for the $, and having it done for me suits me just fine.

My motherboard tells me "We strongly recommend do NOT go above 1.4V!"

I would say as long as the temps are under 75C that will be ok. Mine is at 1.4V right now with temps at 73C after doing 100 runs of IntelBurnTest.

Cold Rush, I was more or less looking for people to say that its "okay"...not to necessarily flame me. I'm glad to see more peeps are using the auto OC on their mobo.

My temps are about 73ish and my voltage is about 1.312. I think I should be happy with that. May try 4.8 and seee how that works out. Kentan, make sure you try P95 testing as well. I had many clocks that seemed fined in IBT but failed immediately in P95...

Only 1.31V at 4.5 GHz? That's really good.

Mine needed around 1.35V at that.

Sandy is the easiest thing in the world to OC. If you can't do it yourself your brain is the size of a pea.

The Performance setting on my Sabertooth UEFI sets BLCK to 103 and led to RAM issues. I went with a manual VCORE for a long time (4.7GHz @ 1.375V) but just recently started messing with offset. So far I like offset better (because my voltage drops at idle) but I'm still getting random BSOD's while I try to zero-in on the perfect offset voltage (I'm at -.050V right now and its been stable so far)....

Yea, its easy thanks to my bios doing it for me. So, my brain may be the size of a pea but I bet I achieved stability and decent overclock faster than 99% of people who tried to do it all manually

Obviously I'm from the "work smarter, not harder" camp....
