3DMark06 CPU Test

Thread Starter
I decided to run 3DMark06 on my old Q6600 2.40GHz , HD5830, 4GB System for fun and noticed that the graphic tests went okay I guess you can say but the CPU tests BOMB HARD. 0-1 FPS. Howcome this happened? CPU to slow? Here is details before:

3DMark Score11239 3DMarks
SM2.0 Score4392
HDR/SM3.0 Score5265
CPU Score3232
GT1 - Return To Proxycon 35 FPS
GT2 - Firefly Forest 38 FPS
CPU1 - Red Valley 1 FPS
CPU2 - Red Valley 1 FPS
HDR1 - Canyon Flight 66 FPS
HDR2 - Deep Freeze 38 FPS

To achieve higher, Should I overclock the CPU?

That's just how the CPU test is in 06. My 1055t OC'd ro 4.7ghz will only get ~4fps in the CPU test.

I'm pretty sure 06 is single threaded so yeah overclocking is pretty much all you can do. I used to get 5-6fps when I had my Pentium E6600 but only when I was running it at 3.91ghz

06 is multi-threaded, so the more cores/threads, the better

In the CPU tests FPS do not matter, the application is counting OPS (operations per second) AFAIK also 3200ish on a stock q6600 is a fair score.

As has been said that is 100% normal for that set up. My i5 750 barely cracks 2 FPS
