I could use some help: d14, frio, h70, Rasa 750.

Thread Starter
I've finally got my build together, less CPU cooling. I'm having a terrible time deciding which way to go. I know there are tons of threads out here like this, but I have some specific desires that have not been addressed. I know you guys are the best, so, make this easier for me, please! I'm ordering this system in around a week.

My build specs:
  • i5-2500k
  • Sapphire 2GB 6950
  • Gigabyte p67-UD4-B3
  • G. Skills 2133 8GB
  • Plextor 128GB SSD
  • Hitachi 7200 RPM SATA III 1.5TB
  • Corsair Obsidian 650d
  • Corsair Professional HX850 modular PSU

The only missing piece is my cooler. The things I'm considering are in the title, but I'm open to other suggestions.

What I want to do with my computer:
  • Be able to run a stable 4.7GHz + OC
  • Move my computer to LANs on a regular basis
  • Enjoy looking at it

I'm afraid the Frio won't keep the CPU cool enough for an OC like that.
I'm afraid the d14 and the Rasa 750 will make it unadvisable to move to LANs.
I've read of mediocre performance from the H70, but I think it is the best looking of the 4.
Putting the weight of the d14 on my motherboard makes me nervous. I know that no one really has problems with that system, but like I said, my tower will likely be moving around a lot.

Please offer your opinions. I'm open to suggestions on the rest of my build, but what's most important to me right now is picking the right cooler. I've put a lot of research into my build, and I'm confident with everything but my CPU cooling.

Thank you.

Get the Corsair H80. If the stock fans are too loud for you, replace them with GT AP-15's. That'll be your best choice, but it is a little expenisive.

Well.. it's a good choice of a case you have. It can be equipped with WC or air-cooling. You should consider to mount H80 as intake (see this). H80 is 3-5 degrees better compare to H70.

But if you need air-cooling, it would be best to choose D14..

Conclusion, I like aesthetic and performance... for me: H80 is the answer..

This is where the Corsair H80 comes in It surpasses the H70 by quite a bit thanks to its new block, fans, rad and almost everything else. It is to replace the H70, and the performance gain, from the reviews I've seen, is a nice step up.

If you want to wait a bit, the Corsair H100 is also going to be released shortly, and that should make things even clearer.

Everyone here seems to like the Hydro series. It seems like newegg disagrees. I'm confused. Be that as it may, I'm seriously considering the h80 and the h100 now.

H100 SHOULD come within a few days but who knows as Corsair has been jerking us around for months on that bad boy.

I'm more excited waiting for the fruition of the Asetek/ Antec Waterchill 2011C.

4 120mm fans, flexible hoses, and a 38mm rad? SO FULL OF WIN!

I couldn't find where to pre order on that site. I just wanted to see how much it was. Looks like it's basically the exact same thing as the h100.

Ah forgot to add the second link.

They later came out and said that they are partnering up with who I personally think is Antec to mass market these things. They were originally only going to be sold to 1000 customers via a pre-order link on Asetek's website but a partner came to them and asked if they could mass market it and here we are, waiting for word.

I'd rather have this over the H100 for various reasons. Better tubing, half inch thicker rad, less gimmicky pump, better software without the need for Corsair Link, and overall better cooling.

Price is the only issue. If this one is over $150 I'm getting a RASA 750 RX360 kit.

I think the Rasa would be a great option for me if I was planning to keep my computer on my desk, but, even if I didn't LAN much (I do), I move 3 times or so a year, so true WC makes me a little nervous.

Just as an fyi, I shipped my computer from Hawaii to Florida with a Silver Arrow (similar size and weight to the D14) on it and it arrived just fine. That considered, I believe the D14 would have no issues in a pc that is moved around.
