[CVG] Mass Effect 3: Can it sell big - without selling out? - Page 5

I'd just like to see some co-op interactivity. Bioware has both DA and ME easily set up for a 2nd (maybe up to 4) player to play in the squad system. Then maybe we might get some of the RPG element that ME2 lost. Dont flame me, its an interesting concept

Also to that guy who quoted the user score at least use the PC version not 360.

I dont think I need to explain why for that ^^^

Yeah, some ppl doing it wrong as usual. ME series has never been about its mechanics or even gameplay. Bioware obviously wants to tell a story. Me3 will be no different.

ME1's armor and weapons were fun sometimes but very annoying at others.

Mass Effect is a RPG game. Mass Effect 2 is a third person shooter with minimal RPG references. We aren't bashing non RPG games. We're bashing the bastardization of RPG games. It would be like if Valve decided to add RPG elements to HL3. The previous games were strictly FPS games. I guarantee you a radical genre change like that would piss off a majority of HL fans. I know I would be annoyed.

Again, Mass Effect wasn't adored by so many people because its combat was spectacular; it wasn't. It was bug-ridden, slow, awkward, and anti-climactic. In ME2, they simply made the full switch to TPS gameplay with RPG elements. As far as I know, that's always been the idea. The reason so many love ME is first and foremost the story, story-telling, and character interaction. It's so polished, and the voice acting is so professional, I actually have a terribly hard time getting invested into most other game stories now. Even with Witcher 2, the story just felt amateur in comparison.

After DA2, I'm going to wait for reviews.

Also, was this marketing douche involved in DA2? Cos if he was, then I'm a little more wary than I was before the article.

This guy's... well, read the article.

I have zero faith at the moment. I hope I'm proven wrong, but this is not looking like a game I'll enjoy based on his comments re: DA2.

Doesn't is seem a little irrational to not play a game because the PR guy is the same as another game that happened to bad? It's not like he's making the game himself. Both parts of the ME series have been phenomenal, and as bad as DA2 was, it's just one game. DA:O was pretty great too.

Interesting. They seem to think 2 was an RPG still and that they didn't already sell out.

Yeah, my feelings as well. ME2 was about as close as I can get to a shooter and still feel OK. Of course, they'll make it as shooter-like as possible, because shooters sell more, statistically.

The fact that you don't like it doesn't mean they sold out. Most people loved Mass Effect 2, including those who loved ME1. Most people play it for the story and story-telling, which was just as deep in the sequel.
