PR douche is saying broadly the same things about ME3 as he did about DA2.

That makes me uncomfortable about the game direction.

Whether I play it or not will depend on critical reviews and peer reviews, this guy won't factor into it; but his PR being the same now as it was during the PR train for DA2 makes me unhappy.

Loved DAO, loved ME1 and ME2, but DA2 was a turd, and not even a well polished one.

I don't see why all this hate on ME2. ME2 was more action oriented and was MORE fun than ME1 to me. Story wise ME2 was better to me too. I could careless about the RPG elements, I got fall out, elder scrolls, final fantasy, and more if I want a RPG. Are you really going to argue that the end boss in ME1 was better than ME2?

One thing I absolutely hated about ME1 was the inventory system. It was horrid mess to the point I just didn't even bother picking up stuff. Spending and earning money was pointless once you got the best armor in the game thus no reason for me to even bother collecting the crap ton of gear in the game most of which repeated.

One thing I didn't like about ME2 that I liked about ME1 was the use of cooling clip aka ammo. I wish they stayed with the cool downs.

Story wise ME2 improved on ME 1 in every way. You didn't have to do the loyalty missions or the planet scanning. That was all optional. Of course your end game was determined by it but by no means was it a necessity to the point where people complained about having to do it. No one was twisting your arm to go out and scan those planets. Hell I sure didn't because I found everything I needed just by going through the story. Didn't need to scan planets.

The loyalty missions were good to me because I got to learn about the characters I was working with. Oh wait isn't that what happens in RPGs? You learn about the characters? You didn't need to learn about Shepard in ME2 because that was the purpose of ME1 the focus on Shepard is done and ME2 it was on the team.

The ability modifications in ME1 was nice but for the most part didn't make a night and day difference to me. Maybe it was because I was playing solider since I like going balls to the walls out that I didn't notice and didn't rely on powers. To be honest some of it was stupid. Gotta unlock pistol skill to use shotguns or something like that. I can't remember specifically.

In terms of controls ME2 improved on ME1 in every way as well to. ME1 was clunky. Not that ME2 wasn't either but it had better character movement.

If you step back and look at everything, there is only 2 things that made ME1 more RPGish than ME 2. Weapon customization and character skills. Other than that ME1 is a third person shooter with RPG elements just like ME2.

Still seems like an irrational worry.

I game rather late in the ME series. I was feeling ill and without anything to do at home I stumbled across ME2. I played it and loved it. I played it 4 times until I decided to play ME1. When I played ME1 I found the controls horrible. I could not adjust. Eventually I got my controls like in ME2. ME1 has better story! The Ilos mission drove me crazy! Epic! EPIC!

My personal opinion: Mass Effect 2 was significantly better than ME and I'm looking forward to part 3.

That's where I'm at. Mass Effect 1 was fantastic, and in my mind, Mass Effect 2 overall was an improvement. Sure, they lost some of the true RPGish aspects like customization and such, but it was a much cleaner experience, with cinematics that upped my expectations in games. I love RPG's (KOTOR still is probably one of my favorites....), but Mass Effect 2 was fantastic in my eyes. Only thing I would have changed was that stupid mineral scanning nonsense, and maybe bring back the Mako... with improved controls.

Completely agree. I "enjoyed" ME1. I fell in love with ME3. I believe that ME2 is what ME should have been originally (Action focused RPG), while Dragon Age should be remain how it was in the first iteration (heavy RPG focus fantasy).

I honestly believe that it is impossible o satisfy both in one franchise. Mass Effect for the action oriented crowd and Dragon Age for the RPG heads.

I know what you mean. I fell in love with the Reaper/Prothean lore. Ilos was tied only with "meeting" Sovereign. Amazing.

Number of ME1 playthroughs: 6-7
Number of ME2 playthrougs: 1

ME2 just wasn't that great of a game, I wanted them to tighten up the shooter mechanics, but not at the expense of all of the other gameplay that made ME1 so amazing.

EDIT: wow just remembered the horrible skill tree...Everyone ends up with the same exact skills at the end of the game...there are no choices for play style.

+1 on that. That part really brought the game together, along with some truly epic quotes. "We have no beginning. We have no end. We are infinite. Millions of years after your civilization has been eradicated and forgotten, we will endure."
