DIY Shroud

I'd like use shrouds for the san ace fans on my quad 120 externally mounted rad. Currently I've got 4 cheap 120mmx25mm yate loons with the guts ripped out and the corner ribs cut/filled off, but they smell horrible after filing since they're made out of some nasty cheap pbt plastic. I've tried soaking them in hot water and detergent (recommended by a guy that repairs burnt ddc pumps) and leaving them outside to air out, but the stench keeps leeching through. I wonder if painting or coating them with some kind of sealer would get rid of the odor?

So I'm not sure what to do.

I could:

1) Try to get rid of the odor somehow?

2) Get some cheap 38 mm fans without ribs. So far the cheapest 38 mm fans are scythe ultra kazes for about $6.50 but they're back ordered.

3) Make a quad rad shroud out of 1/32" or 1/16" sheet metal and rivets. If I could get my hands on enough sheet metal I think that would be the best way to go about it. I'm not sure where to buy it at a reasonable price though.

4) Buy a koolance shroud. Don't like this one much since it'd cost me about $65 + shipping and they don't fit so well on 60 mm thick rads.

you need to find a small scale distrubutor or fab shop for sheet metal. They typically have drops from larger orders that they will sell (so you don't have to buy a full sheet. Just call around and eventually you'll find someone that will sell to you.

and if done well, it'll be best looking/preforming/story of your options.

Well, I figured I would need a sheet a bit smaller than 2' x 1' to make the shroud, which would cost me over $60 at the place I checked. Plus I'd have to make some 50 cm long 90 degree bends.

Anyway, I found this ready made quad 120 shroud at sidewinder computers

It looks perfect and would save me a LOT of work. The only issue is that I would have to drill and tap holes into the sides of my TFC quad radiator. It should fit though?
