I would like a new monitor, but would also like an HDTV, so i figured i would try to combine the two into one purchase.

On my short list i have these 3 monitors
http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpos...74&postcount=1

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824236112

were i to buy either of these two, i will also buy http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815116028

http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...hse=BC&topnav=

I would be using the monitor with my sig rig until i upgrade to a GTX 460, which i would like to use to play starcraft 2 and otherwise do work for school.

thanks in advanced for the help, and i will give rep for answers

My vote is for the Asus. I wouldn't advise getting a TV to use as a primary monitor. Some people have, and they like it just fine. I have one, but only use it as a secondary display for movies, youtube, etc. The text isn't nearly as crisp on televisions as they are on computer monitors. Hauppauge make some great TV tuners. I used to have one in my old rig about 5 years ago. Loved the heck out of it. Not only can you watch TV on your PC, but you've now turned it into a full-fledge DVR.

that is why i didnt immediately get the HDTV. i had heard from many people that TV's don't function very well as monitors.

i was unsure, however, because of the contrast and resolution of that hdtv.
