Get the PowerCooler one. You'll be fine on your psu.

Ohhh I see what the molex is! How much better quality is the 6870 over the 6850? Is it worth it? and would 450w power it?

it's a decent chunk better, your psu should be able to power it providing it hasn't degraded too much and was of decent quality to begin with, if not, a psu upgrade is always a good idea anyway and an antec truepower 650w would serve you nicely.

Here is the performance of a 6870 vs 6850. Its a general comparison.

Thank you I se there is a noticeable difference. So I'm thinking on settling with this thing: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102913. One last question tho. On the power cable, it looks like there are 2 different molex to 6 pin cables. I already have one 6 pin free. So will I connect one 6 pin and one 4 pin molex converted to 6 pin to the GPU?

My dilemma is I have a 450w psu. I would like to buy this GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814131374. The minimum requirements for the psu are 450w. This would be great. but I was also looking to maybe get the same card from XFX: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150515. This thing has 2 fans and a double lifetime warranty. The only problem is that the minimum psu requirements are 500w.

So I guess I have 2 options:

Option 1: Buy this card from PowerColor. I have the necessary psu requirements.

OR

Option2: Get the same card BUT from XFX. I get 2 fans and a better warranty. I would need to upgrade my PSU, so I'm thinking this 550w one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371016.

Any ideas would be great. Thanks

Speaking from personal experience, I have a Corsair HX 450w 80 Plus Bronze PSU powering a GTX460 1GB, which is a 160w TDP Graphics card. The HD6850 has a 127w TDP (which I incidentally also used to own)

At one point that combo was in my main system, along with a Core 2 Quad Q9550.

I still have that combo in my Media Center, this time with a Pentium E5300 2.6 Ghz overclocked to 3 Ghz.

As long as you don't go overclocking you Q6600 too much (uses more power than the Q9550), or don't overclock the HD6850 by too much, you should be fine, provided the PSU is good quality.

Going for an HD6870 is a good possibility, it has a 151w TDP, but I wouldn't recomment you overclocking it at all. And only doing some modest overclock on the CPU (to around 3 Ghz, a speed which most report is where the most gains are to be seen).

The HD6870 will be a bit bottlenecked by the Q6600 tough, but it's still a good investment should you consider upgrading the rest of the rig in a few months.

Yes, you need to have one 4 pin Molex connector to use the 6 pin adapter. The other 6 pin from the PSU goes directly to the card.
