First OC - 1055T

Thread Starter
So I finally decided to take some time and OC my CPU. Very stressful for me since I probably don't know everything I should and don't wanna cause a meltdown and be out a computer.

I think I have the settings where I want them, cept for the volts. I made them higher than the Auto settings, but still in the "safe" zone according to the BIOS but I'm not sure if it is too much, or just right.

I ran OCCT for 10 minutes to make sure it wouldn't explode on me and things seemed alright, but I don't want to run it 24/7 until I know my settings are infact safe.

Any input is appreciated.

I had read through it a while ago, didn't make much sense to me at the time though. Makes more sense now.
If I'm reading it right, my HT Link Voltage might be a little high for what I'm doing, and I could drop my ram and maybe even go a little higher on the CPU.

As long as I'm on the fright track...

Be very cautious OCing that hexacore on that mobo, you might want to read this to learn more http://www.overclock.net/amd-motherb...tion-list.html

Settings don't look to far out of line. You will see more performance if you'd OC the NB Freq 2600-3000MHz. Maintain the HT Link Speed to 2000MHz +/- 100MHz.

To be stable you should be able to pass 24 hrs of prime95 (on blend), 10-20 passes of ITB on max, 25-50 passes of LinX and finish up with an 6-8 hr run of Memtest86. I like to start with ITB and LinX before the 24 hr run of prime95. Just watch your temps under load, stay under 55-57c and you should be fine.

Motherboard and memory play a huge part in 1055T OC-ing....
The motherboard is definitely not ideal, these boards are known to blow to smithereens (VRM problems) if you overclock the VRM-heavy Phenom II x6 on it - even with low voltage OCs.
If the memory is not at least DDR3-1600 (or an enhanced timing DDR3-1333 kit that does 1600) it may hold back your CPU OC.

My RAM is DDR3-1600 9-9-9-24.

Just ran LinX 20 lines, no errors. I stopped because I wasn't sure what my temperatures were getting to. SpeedFan was showing the case getting as high as 52C, but then dropping to 35C and then back up.
And for some reason Core temp isn't working when I use my OC profile and according to the BIOS I didn't break 40C on the CPU. That's either good or very troubling.

Imma try out Everest for temps and run IBT later.

just 1 question.
Why you have low multiplier to reach cpu speed under 3.6 ?

Not supposed to have lower multiplier to earn more FSB? having a higher frequency in nb? (more nb frecuency it means "more performance")
So if you are at 12.5 * 288 -> and 2016 frequency nb, im guesing that you want a low nb frecuency for some reason, due to "motherboard limitations" or "psu limitations", or you want your rams under 1500/1600 -> "ram limitations"

Under the terms above, for me is what i think you should have lower fsb, and higher multiplier, keeping NB and HT frecuencies under 2000
Per example 14*257/258 -> cpu voltaje "under stock" or you can push it a little more to 3.7 under same multiplier (this is my recomendation to leave the cpu under that frecuencies)

Cpu above 3.88 you will need more voltaje -> .1.47 to reach if youre lucky 4 ghz maybe for this one you will need 1.5 (in air i dont recommend that)..

Another question:
For ram can you set the frecuencies manually? i mean "1097 / 1333 / 16000" ?

Welp, I musta messed something up. I was running a IBT and everything was going fine, no errors or anything and after it finished I figured I'd give it a reboot and check the BIOS for a temp. Get to the first Windows loading screen and crash.

Reboot, Windows loading screen, blue screen.

Reboot, reset to factory settings in BIOS, "Windows could not start" in a lovely stretched 800x600 screen. Oh Shi-

I let it do its repair and soon I was up and running again like before the OC. I decided to tempt fate again and try the settings you suggested, darthmalak, but it just crashes when it gets to the Windows loading screen now. Even on a 3.5GHz OC.

Anyway, I think I'm gunna stop while I'm ahead before I do some serious damage. Thanks for the help, rep all-round.
