Project On-X

Thread Starter
So, this is my first ever real mod, I repainted my HAF 932 last year, but no real modding was done. Here, I will be doing a basic mod to my old Xion Onyx mid tower. There is no over arching theme here, I am just doing a few things here and there to make this case worth using. The only theme present here is the colors: black and green. Also, don't expect any magnificent hardware, as this build is mostly an excuse to build another PC, and I already have a decent machine, as you can see in my signature. This is going to be built using many secondhand parts that I have lying around, as well as a few I will buy right here on OCN.

Anyway, the main modification here is the flipping of the motherboard tray and back panel. This means that there will be a window on the right side of the case, but the purpose of this is to have a bottom-mounted power supply. Also, I am going to change HDD rack, and make them mount vertically rather than horizontally. I am also going to change up the fan arrangement, and change the airflow of the case. As well, I am going to make the holes in the silver plastic of the bezel functional, which means I am going to drill them out so air can flow through them. And in case you aren't familiar with this case, here are a few pics I took:

Just got my processor for this build! Thank you ZTR1760 for a quick and easy deal on an Intel Core 2 Duo e6750.

Just finished flipping the motherboard!
Next step is to alter the HDD cage and get the fan holes cut.

Here are some pics of the flipped Onyx:

Totally forgot about this thread, I guess I will revive it by showing you guys what I have done to this old thing.

And special thanks to OCN member's ducrider and ZTR1760 for the good deals on the GTX 275 and the Intel e6750, respectively.
Also thanks to Bill Owen and MNPCTech for the sick grill on top.

I hope to. If not, I want to at least buy some individually sleeved extensions. It would really give this case a finished look.
