Radeon HD 6950 XFX vs MSI vs Sapphire

Thread Starter
XFX HD-695X-CDFC Radeon HD 6950

MSI R6950 Twin Frozr II

SAPPHIRE 100312-3SR Radeon HD 6950 Dirt3 Edition

Which of these will have the best cooling with reasonable noise? I would rather not sacrifice cooling for noise, as my current 6970 is quite loud and has crap cooling, and I'm exchanging it for two of these to get better cooling and noise, and better performance.

Having owned a 6950 Twin Frozr II that thing was quiet at reasonable fan speeds like 50-60%, So based on personal experience, that.

Though lets hear from Sapphire and XFX owners too.

But what were your GPU temperatures and case temperatures? At 100%?

These cards will be 100% utilized 24/7, and they're in the same room I sleep in. They need to stay cool, and reasonably quiet. I'm not too excited about overclocking, but if I can, while still getting reasonable temps, and noise, then sweet!

Now is unlockability a factor?

Because none of those can unlock.

Can.

( you can try and unlock some of those with a high risk of bricking.)

I appoligize I guess that was a bit subjective, I mean no easy bios switch or supported methods to unlock it.

OT tho, Since Audibility is a major concern, you'll be wanting a twin fan model ( on that note have you considered an aftermarket cooler for your 6970?

Now there isn't a significant difference in Db or Cooling performance between all the Twin fan models besides the Asus 3 Slot.

You're right, no easy route with this card. Been working like a charm since I got it!

Just some people aren't as "capable" and mess up and end up with a shiny paperweight. And there is a significant performance difference between unlocked. And not sure why but Saw some pretty sweet numbers from these Powercolors.

I have 2 of them on the way will have them by end of the week.

I own a Twin Frozr II and I can vouch that it is possibly the lowest temp possible for a GPU so far.
