[Official] Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread! - Page 435

Finally got my copy today! Rolled a Jedi Consular on Frostclaw.

Sorry to bring up the graphics debacle again, but I have a question related to it (not a complaint, a question, I think there's been enough complaining about it for everyone to get the point)

My understanding is that the dumbed down textures was only supposed to be in relation to during gameplay. When you're out and about in the open world fighting and exploring etc.

So why are the textures looking no different in the dialogue scenes? Are they counted as open world gameplay too?

i think the problem is, the high rez textures aren't that amazing to start. theyre decent, but more console worthy. if you zoom out a bit, you can tell they'll look great during game play tho. i was actually hoping for an ultra-rez pack at some point, not sure thats a practical thought at this point.

Sorry, but that doesn't really answer my question.

i mean, it could be because in convos they really zoom in, often on the head shot, so even the high rez textures can look pixelated and low-rez. just the nature of the beast. post a shot of what youre talking about, can tell if its the actual textures or youve really got a problem.

It's basically just how it looks in the other pictures, blurry and muddy textures, mostly on clothing. It looks no different from actual playing the game when you zoom in on your character.

If it's supposed to look like that in dialogue I can live with it, just curious if it's supposed to be like that at that point. I thought cutscenes were supposed to be high resolution.

think i read somewhere that setting the textures to low, then back to high can help a similar problem... at least worth a shot...

Go to your ship. Face the camera so it is looking at the front of your toon, then right click it. You'll see the difference in textures, both on your toon and it's armor, but not the environment. You just dont' notice a big difference because you haven't really looked for it yet.

Outside of what others have suggested, make sure your mipmap detail level setting in Catalyst is set to 'quality'.

I know what the difference is, that wasn't the question, sorry.

The question is whether it's supposed to be game textures or cutscene textures during dialogue. The graphics are no different between either for me.

I don't have a mipmap setting in Catalyst. Or if I do it's under a different name. I have Texture Filtering Quality - High, and Surface Optimization - On. I've tried AF both Application Controlled and Manual x16.

I also read of an Anti Aliasing fix somewhere but can't find it. How do I fix the Anti Aliasing as well please?

Thanks.

Really don't have the money to do it as I just bought most of my sig rig a couple months ago, but I really enjoy the game.
I feel like I should be fine but getting 15-30~ in warzones is upsetting me. I don't know what's going on.
But then I do some research and still see people with the i5 having the same issues.
Also thinking about un-subscribing all together and going back to battlefield, which runs perfectly fine.

I get pretty much the same result as you, and I've got a weaker Athlon II X3. Trouble is, on the whole, I get good performance except for a few areas. Seems to be related to gunfire or certain effects (at least for me). If anyone had told me that this game would be the one to make me upgrade my cpu/mobo, I wouldn't have taken them seriously.biggrin.gif
