[Official] Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread! - Page 786

Aaahhhh.... back to this thread... OLD stomping grounds, I tell you! biggrin.gif

Good to see people still up and talking; I know our server (PotF) is anything but dead, so *hopefully* 2.0 brings back even more to the party.

Thanks - T

More info about APAC servers

I wanted to give an update on some things and answer some questions we have seen in the thread. First, one of the things we have seen multiple people suggest is that if we are going to merge the APAC servers into the NA West servers that we should give you the option to choose which NA West server you transfer to. Knowing that some APAC players have existing characters and Legacies on some NA West servers already, we agree. When we open free transfers we will allow you one time transfer from your current APAC server to any one of the NA West servers. Note: The actual server merges themselves will still happen based on server type, so once we open transfers make sure you move all of your characters to the server you want before the merge happens.

We have also seen some concerns that we “haven’t considered what NA West’s populations are at offpeak times.” Actually, this is part of the reason we are making the decision to move APAC into NA West. Currently the equivalent NA West servers are seeing higher populations at offpeak times than their APAC counterparts. Meaning that even during offpeak NA times, the APAC players should see an increase in population after the transfers/merges.

Looks like Server Transfer tool for all is coming soon after 2.0 launches.

Other than the people that are separated from IRL friends, etc, where will this come in handy?
Am I in the minority where I started with a pre-launch guild and stayed with them through the initial consolidation?
I mean only when that group started to ignore new content for "world PVP" did I leave them to go to another very large, active guild on the same server...
I guess the question I'm really asking is this: What's the utility to pick-and-choose server transfers, beyond having "accidentally" started in the wrong place?

Thanks - T

A lot of people had to re-roll to new server when their old one was dying before the server merge. When the merge happened , they had toons separated across different servers. And now many want to get them all together in 1 server .

Ah. See I know that this happened, but...
I was with a guild that I wasn't going to abandon, so no matter how dead, no matter how long the queues, no matter how terrible the group comps, I never re-rolled anywhere, and eventually my original server (Terentatek) was merged into PotF, so I guess I'm just an odd one out...
I have played, almost every single day - or at least twice a week - since Day 1 Hour 4 of early release, and have never taken a true "break" other than a vacation with my family, so it's hard to see it from any other perspective!

Thanks - T

I got lucky and started out on POT5. Been taking my first real break from the game since it came out waiting for the expansion.

Yeah, we were supposed to raid last week (per guild schedule), and my raid leader and I - the main tank for the group - said "NOPE, too lazy!" and called off all progression raiding for our group until 2.0 drops. We're basically just resting on our laurels for now!
There's just no point, since the best thing you're gonna get is Black Hole comms, and those will be Classic Comms in 2.0, which will get you companion gear and basically nothing else useful...
We're trying to motivate people to go ahead and patch to the PTS so that the transition to 2.0 won't take all day, but people are lazy right now.
My only real goal was to get Legend status with all the factions (except the Voss, 'cause screw them), and my newest 50 is too babycakes to even bother trying to gear in the few days before my early acces will come!

Thanks - T

I don't think it will work , PTS files are separated from the main files so you will still need to download the whole 2.0 again.
I'm also in the same boat of taking a break till 2.0. I like 2.0 changes so much after playing it on PTS that it made me lose motivation to play the live version. Well,if only the expansion didn't drop on my exam week frown.gif

I'm on The Harbinger. I think West US server should give the best ping if you're deciding on which server to play.
