I'll take a look, for sure! I'm not entirely sure what it was calling for, again, since i can't pull it up here, but it wasn't a slim number, at least not like one would think.

Hey there, I was wondering, is this worth playing for the story? I really enjoyed KOTOR1 and KOTOR2, and I was wondering if this at least as good or close enough, especially in the story department.

Um. That's hard to answer! tongue.gif

Ok, YES, I like the main story, and the Imperial class stories are very good, with Inquisitor being the weakest, followed by Bounty Hunter, Agent, and Warrior taking the #1 spot in my opinion.
The overarching Elder Game enemy is not a bad fit, and if you pay any attention to all of the cut scenes, it will all connect in a way that shows that they actually put time into the idea, even though it may not feel like it at one or two moments.

I do not know a lot about the Republic stories, but suffice it to say that the Smuggler is highly thought of, as well as the Jedi Knight. Bioware is a bit biased toward these two classes, frankly... rolleyes.gif

Honestly, I'm an endgame raider, so I'm in it for the content, but I loved the feel the game has given me!

This is not KOTOR, however. It ties in, but very vaguely, and only with references and some adaptive armor you get to wear. The biggest rehashes are Taris and HK-47, and whither people hated it or not, Taris was fun for me.

Thanks - T

Hmm I see, then it might actually be worth it. There's one thing I forgot to mention, I don't plan to spend money on the game, will I be losing a lot of stuff?

OH GOD IT'S ONE OF YOU.......... hmmsmiley02.gif

Dirty no-good, non-payin' F2P plebes. buttkick.gif

I KID, I KID!!!

Honestly, wrong person to ask. redface.gif
I've been a full time Subscriber since hour 1, day 1 of early access, so I can't even accurately tell you the differences!

From what I know, the class leveling / story is not really affected by F2P at all, but doing flashpoints is to a certain extent; the reason that matters is because part of the story I was referencing is buried in those flashpoints' "plots".
Same with raids. If you want to know who the Dread Masters are, you'll see it in your class / planetary quests toward end-game, but to truly see their impact, you have to raid. Operations (raids) are off limits to F2P players unless you buy into them with Cartel Market unlocks, and those are temporary...

Hope that helps!

Thanks - T

I'm going to assume those flashpoints are side quests, or something like that. Do they really have that much story buried in them? If so, that's a bit of a turn off...

No, flashpoints are the 4-man content, and operations are the 8-man "raid" content.

They don't have a metric ton, but there are interesting things in them that if you just don't know, other information will not make sense, or you might not follow the idea completely.

There's even an optional companion that requires doing FPs to get the parts necessary to build him. Well, used to anyway...

The drop for 2.2 is this Tuesday, so we will be getting some serious upgrades and content delivery there as well!

Thanks - T

I see, well I think I'll just give it a try anyway. After all it is F2P now, so if I don't like it or whatever I can just quit. Thanks for helping me out smile.gif

if bioware is smart, they'd follow in the footsteps of EVE and start selling the PLEX equivalent on the cartel market. SWTOR was designed from the ground up as a sub based game. all this cash ship thing doesnt jive well with the game design. so the way around it is to offer a way to sell/buy the "subscription" on the GTN so that it allows the freebies to try out the "full game" instead of playing crippledware. if someone likes the full game, they'll likely sub anyway. the crippled F2P version of the game can actually drive players away.
See, I kinda thought that too, and seeing as I'm guilded and only ever really run with subs, because all Elder Game content is limited to Preferred and Subscriptions, I have never had a bit of experience otherwise, you know?

Just not something I'm familiar with!

Now the EVE thing I completely agree with! I played for a while, and that would make sense for more than one reason.

Thanks - T
