Advice on AT&T

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

We're currently customers for AT&T. We're trying to cut down on our bills & get better (more) features/services.

So, we got our bill today and it came out to $110 for the 3 of us (Mom, Brother, and I). That's for 550 minutes (between us) and like 200 texts. Crazy, right?

Well, I've heard that getting aggressive with AT&T will void your contract. Is that correct? If so, would voiding the contract require paying the cancellation fee or not?

well you might look into getting faimly unlimited text that also gives you unlimited mobile to mobile so you can call more just not to land lines. I think it was 30 bucks for our unlimited txt and mobile to mobile you might be able to drop your mins if you get that if you dont call land lines very much.

Unfortuantely the only way to get out is to ride out your contract or pay the ETF.
You should get out of the contract, thats an high price just for 550 min and 200 text. I have T-mobile and we only pay like 90 a month for Me my mom and dad, with unlimited texting and 700 minutes.

also you should check this out.

Your high bill is probably due to overage on texting- 200 goes pretty quickly- especially divided among three users.
And when you go over.... boy, do they rape you!

Check your bill carefully, I'll bet that is what is running it up.

Without skipping contract, your best bet:
Your 200 min plan is (IIRC) $5 a month.
Cancel that and switch to Messaging 1000.
It's only $10 a month.
So in effect you get 800 more for the difference of only $5 thumb.gif
and no more overage issues (well... a lot more texts before you hit them tongue.gif)
Cheers & GL

and yeah they updated their ToS to say that if you're rude/aggressive/a pain they can cut you off...

but then being a bully with CSRs doesn't tend to work well

That is strange, I was an utter and complete dick to their support staff (with no real result at the time) and never once had they seemed to want to cancel me out.

I can confirm however, ATT will not let you out of your 2 year commitment without paying for the ETF. You can however request for a change in service plan. My wife has successfully done this, and my mother in law requests cheaper plans practically every other month and again, gets a reduced price. This is mainly due to the fact that providers change their rate plans so often to keep competitive.

Hope this helps :-)

Just remember, being a jerk gets you nowhere, and asking thee right people for changes/upgrades within your current service plan is always an option!
