Should I Pull the Trigger on the Filco Ninja 2?

I have been looking for another mechanical keyboard to try out. Preferrably brown switches and top notch quality. Currently using a Black Widow Ultimate. Blue Switches obviously. And while I really like it I am curious to try something else and from everything I have researched for a top of the line keyboard Filco seems to be of the best offered. Not opposed to trying something like a Topre or some other competitive model, but this is what seems to intrigue me. Granted one thing I would like to avoid is key pads wearing out more quickly than they should (i.e. Shine).

Here is the link to the [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Filco-Majestouch-2-Keyboard-FKBN104M-EFB2/dp/B004Z0XR2O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1311656366&sr=8-1"]Ninja 2[/ame] I am looking at. Thanks for any advice.

I love my filco browns and enjoy the feel/quality of it. Keycaps are one area of concern on the filcos but it you get the ninjas there is less worry of keycap wear at least for the lettering.

Also might want to check out other options out in the market since there are many other options out there you just have to look and do your research.

Is 104 key layout a must for you? what about a tenkeyless option since you already have a full size in the BWU.

Yes. Do it. I have the Filco Majestouch Black Tenkeyless (aka Filco Majestouch Ninja Tenkeyless Japanese Edition) and it's wonderful. Typing on a mechanical keyboard for the first time feels wonderful. Plus, the letters won't fade. Filco has the best PCB out of all of the mechanical keyboard brands. Lots of people buy filcos for the PCB quality. You can easily get a new set of keycaps for the ones on the filco.

I want a full size keyboard. No offense, I have the space and I use the numpad as it is much more intuitive with longer number typing, etc. At some point I may consider a tenkeyless, but probably not my second keyboard. Besides, the one I am using now will go to the wife.

I love my Tenkeyless of the same thing, so I say yes. And sure, it may shine quickly, but the printing will never leave, so I am fine with it.

Love my Filco.

Do it! Filco is one of the best out there. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. wink.gif

I would go for it. I took the same exact path, Blackwidow Ultimate then got a Filco Ninja TKL with browns. The Filco blows away the Razer hands down, also assuming you do some gaming, the browns should work out better for you.

Here's a post I made in another thread to a guy asking a similar question:

I have a Filco brown and I say you should have it. Top notch quality.

The keycaps will be shiny after a while anyway, as with any keyboard. But the shiny Ninja keycaps are fun to look at.
