Should I Pull the Trigger on the Filco Ninja 2? - Page 3

I bought filco for the looks. The build quality and the sheer awesomeness in gaming/typing was a nice bonus.

You are just mixing two opposite philosophies, in every aspect.

IBM/Unicomp = relatively not expensive, unbreakable, waterproof, sold by just a company, bulky, underrated.

Filco= hugely expensive, not reliable, not so durable, can be killed by the first spill of water, cherry MX are sold by a zillion of companies, minimalistic, overrated.

I saw that the regular Majestouch 2 has coated keys and the Ninja doesn't. I know the keys will shine regardless, but does not having the keys coated prevent that blotchy look where it looks like someone took an eraser to the key?

Some strong Filco hate in you, might want to get that checked out. It's not good to have all that pent up in side you.

Anyway, I am perfectly happy with my Filco.

Where's the hate ?

I pointed just some facts, w/o any comment.

A lot of those seemed like opinions.

For instance, I don't find the price to be an issue for what you get. I don't see a lot of issues with reliability being reported. And Water can fell any board, so that little tidbit seems to be an opinion as well. Overrated? Opinion. Minimalistic? Sure! But alas, an opinion (I just happen to agree with it). All of this can be applied to your IBM M analysis as well.

And now, back to the topic at hand.

What you get ?

A basic Cherry board, with a decent design, and keycaps cheaper than the vast majority of the other ones...

...for 160€. Which is just 4 times the price of a Cherry, 1.5x the price of a leopold, 2x the price of an Xarmor and so on.

Opinions ?

Facts.

All the cherry boards have issues, Filco is not an exception.

Overrated? Opinion.
When something is rated more than others w/o any rational motivation, becomes overrated, a fact (again).

Yes can fell over any board, the difference is that on a model M nothing happens, while your filco has good chances to be killed, and surely will stop working. Facts, again.

No, absolutely. Some model Ms are 20 years old and are working like new, and anyone have one of them can tell you that they are virtually unbreakable.

Less parts maybe 150 v.s. 800, less soldering points, maybe 100 v.s. 400, a definitely more robust mechanism.

Facts again.

I don't have any model Ms, just an M2 taken for collecting puorposes.

I'm not fanboy used to think that his own objects are better than others by default.

I have better things to do with my time than to debate this point. But stating a subjective observation as fact does not make it so. Please learn the difference. Now, please let us get back to the topic creators questions.

If you already have blues, have you considered trying a linear switch such as blacks or reds?
