Trying to decide between these two SSDs? Both are SATA 3

I'd go with the M4 because they're both great SSDs but the M4 is cheaper. Although if it were me I wouldn't be buying such a huge SSD. I'm perfectly content with just 64GB for Windows and all my programs.

The M4 256GB is cheaper here: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148443

I'd go for the M4 since it's better value and is just as fast, with random read speeds that topple the patriot in some departments. It's also not based on a sandforce controller, so you're backed by crucial's stability and reliability.

Personally, I think you're spending a bit too much for such a large SSD, where you could be using the excess funds than that of a 128GB one for possibly something else.

I think either would be fine, but I personally would go wildfire.

Personally I'd go for a Corsair Force 3 or a Crucial M4. Also a 256GB drive isn't worth the price imo; a 64GB drive is more than enough for Windows, Programs, even a few Games, and then store everything else like movies, music, backups, ect on your 1TB drive.

Something many people don't realize (especially async drives like the Force3) is that when you get above about half full the performance falls through the freaking floor. So while a 64gb drive may indeed be plenty... you will be better served in the long run with the 120.

I've already killed 80GB on my SSD. I want EVERYTHING I have, minus data, on it. What's the point of an SSD if only Windows and a handful of services and apps boot instantly? I want game maps to load and my code to compile more quickly.

My 128GB M4 is pretty amazing but in a year or less I will definitely want a 256GB SSD, especially with the upcoming releases of BF3, SWTOR, and L.A. Noire, all of which will occupy TONS of space on your hard drive. The trend will only continue from there.
