Noob in Overclocking..

Thread Starter
I managed to increase my CPU core from stock, 2.7GHz, 100% load to 3.11GHz, full load.

My BIOS setup:

Increase multiplier: 15.5x
Stock HT Ref Clock: 201
Stock voltage: 1.325volt
Decrease memory: 333Mhz

MOBO: GA MA78GM US2H
RAM: Kingston value ram 2gb and 512mb.
CPU: AMD Athlon x2 775 B.E

Any adjustment that I should do?

I have hwmonitor, but I monitor my temps using coretemp. Btw, here is my final screenshot after 6hours of stability test.

Max temp around 37c, 100% load.

Question,

I use BIOS to overclock my CPU. Used the Gigabyte MIT in Bios. I only tweak the multiplier, HT Ref. clock and memory.

When I hit prime95, my CPU read 3.13Ghz for full load. When idle, it reads 1.36Ghz back to stock core speed. I did some research on others oc'ing the AMD 775 BE, but I found out they reached their core speed up to 3.2Ghz on idle.

Why is this happening?

Screenshot for prime95, 100%load.

Screenshot after prime95, idle load.

you power mode is set to balanced, go to the screen saver settings > change power settings > and click high performance, now it should no longer drop down to 1.36Ghz

Edit: just so you know, this is amd cool n' quiet at work, keeping you system cool by dropping the multiplier down when your at idle or when you dont need the 3+ ghz to perform everyday tasks

Aww! Thanks!

So, if I put it on high performance, this mean my cores will work 24/7 on 3+ ghz?

Btw, I really don't know about the "cool n quiet", but thats a head start.

It can be turned off in the bios then you don't have to worry about it ever again.

yes sir, or i believe you can go into the bios and change the cool n quiet setting from auto to off, but i just do it from windows, cause im lazy and its faster if i want to turn it back on
