Sometimes very short lags/freezes in PC-Games

Hi,

currently I am playing several games with my system. Performance (Fps, loading times) are great, no complaint regarding that. Yet, what I observe sometimes are very short lags or freezes (less than 1 second) which occur every maybe 4 or 5 minutes. Current examples are Bioshock and Dragon Age 2. Might this be a software related issue or can this also be a hardware issue? To me it appears like reloading lags, but I am not sure.

It may be software, is it every 4 to 5 on the dot?

It could always be information loading from the hdd you know. Or an autosave?

Thanks for your quick replies - that is really an excellent forum here.

No, it is not on the dot - it is just the overall impression. I don´t think it is Autosaving since it doesn´t occur regularly.

For example Bioshock: in earler years, when I had other systems and you played a demanding game, you had some stuttering in the beginning (when you hadn´t enough ram) or some stuttering when there was a lot of load on the screen (graphic-intense battles etc.). It is the complete opposite for example in Bioshock: these lags occur on places where you wouldn´t expect them at all. Like I can be in a small room where is absolutely nothing and I get this very quick lag or freeze. Then again, when I am in the middle of a fight with lots of effects - absolutely everything runs smooth.

And I also know, that it is no big deal, but since I am a little perfectionist I was just curious. So I want to make sure that it is not an hardware issue, especially regarding coming games like Rage or Skyrim.

PS: is it possible that it might be an SSD-Issue?
