I need a USB stick and help, again!

Hello everyone.

3 questions for ya, I can use the help. If you have time ofcourse

I've had enough. Every time I need a USB stick, none is around or it's to small.
I remember the days that I carried around my 128MB USB stick on my keychain and it always was enough. I haven't done that since.

So I thought I'd buy a good USb stick (16GB or 32?) and (not really on a keychain, but well maintained) carry it around with me.

now I know alot about computers:graphics cards, CPU's,... Every different model has some distinct feature of performance. This isn't the case with USB sticks.

1) There are probably millions of models within the same price range, so it's hard to chose one.

Does someone have a (recent) link to USB stick reviews which are the best performing. I know it's a simple stick, but if the prices across brands are the same and yet there are differences, it could hurt to ask you guys first.

If you really have some time and would like to help me out (if you've got some experience with USB sticks), these are the shops I have acces to:

Shop 1
Shop 2
Shop 3

2) While I'm ordering: I use my sig rig, but the 2GB isn't cutting it anymore to me. I'd like some more responsiveness when switching programs, and not worry to have apps like dopbox running.

When I assembled it, I've had issues with memory compatibility though, the OSC SLI XTC is the only one I haven't had problems with so far.

Maybe yo guys can help me with this. I'm not a diehard overclocker, so very tight timings or speed doesn't matter (I do want 800Mhz as I have now though, as it's completely 2.0 ratio with the CPU). Any recommendations (preferably from these sites
Shop 1
Shop 2

1) Oh yeah, before I forget: any preferred brands for DVD RWs?

BTW if some brand/model for the USB/memory/dvd is suggested, some arguments on why you think it is the best are necessary though.

If they sell this brand in your country. Verbatim. My 16GB USB stick has spent 3 months lost outside in the whether and still works.

I´ve tried the Sandisk cruzer, Kingston dater traveller and the Voyager GT all 16 gig versions.
The Corsair Flash Voyager GT gets my vote. It´s fast enough to handle timeshift well, it can take a beating and it´s water resistant, I threw it in the sink to test it.
I´ve heard the 8gig version is faster,.
Here you can pick it up for 29 euro with 99c postage.

For the ram ,what do you have at the moment , 2x1g or 1x2g, are you trying to match up with what you have ?
If not and your looking for a set I can recommend the Hyper X very descent ram lifetime warranty I´m running them in my rig.
You can run them at 800 if your board only supports that speed

Not sure about the DVD drive , it´s been a while since I bought one. but I always had a soft spot for the Philips drives.

Thanks.

I did some reseacrhing myself ans saw that the sandisk Cruzer is indeed the most awarded 16Gig out there.

Allthough they are quite expensive. When I entered a local computer shop I could get my hands on 16GB TDK for 19Euros, while the Sandisk, corsairs and such are more then 10 Euros more expensive! That's a bit to much to my liking.

There was also a very good deal namely a 32GB for 23Euros, but they were well in stock, didn't sell and were from a brand 32GB with not much info on the packaging. Albeit a stragenly good price, I decided to play safe and went with the TDK, a well established brand for storage.

@mr Soft
I have 2*1GB OCZ 800Mhz XTC SLI sticks. I looked around to macth them before but they are AOL and that do have them ask outrages amounts for them (understandable though)

So I wonder if there are good ones that will be fully compatible with these. Is it important that the timings match or is speed enough? Are there other things that I should make sure about?

You need to match the timings, frequency, and voltage if I´m not mistaken otherwise you can face all sorts of hiccups.

Yours are low timings 4,4,4,15 and at 2.25v
Nice ram, but yes it´s going to be expensive trying to find matching ram, you will also lose Dual channel.

You might be better off selling your ram and picking up a 2x2g set.

I'd recommend Corsair, ADATA, and SanDisk. Verbatim is good too...

I love Verbatim (16GB) now. My Verbatim Flash drive has been stress tested beyond belief and still works. I love the damn thing. I also have a Sandisk and Toshiba (both 4GB) flash drive. I love them all.
