best bang for the bucks

wanted to purchased a decent motherboard and a cpu for $160 to $180 or 7k to 8k INR pls suggest me one. i had quiet some experiences intel cpu, now want to try AMD. i will use is for mild gaming for games like crysis 2 and gta IV

Since you didn't post on what site you're buying from I can only post a rough idea of what you could get for that money. My take is a motherboard based on the chipset AMD 970 or 980 should do very well and be forward compatible with future Bulldozer processors; this would be about 80-100$. A nice processor nowadays is the Phenom II x4 955 which can be overclocked as high as the best quad core AMD processors. The total should be about 180-200$ though I've heard from a friend prices in India may be a bit higher. As an alternative the Athlon II x4 CPUs are a cheaper and still good alternative to the Phenom II x4, or you can take your chances and get a Phenom II X2 555 that could potentially unlock to a full X4.

thanx dragosmp but i have heard that usually the cores unlock but the cpu is not stable ??? is ti so
