I can make that statement due to prior statements in other threads. If you believe in things without proof, causation, or even correlation, then why believe it at all? Opinion can be baseless or with reasoning...

Of course things can always be "not yet understand". However, one would never advance if that was the stance on everything. At some point one must make assumptions or one would never trust the universe to get out of bed in the morning.
I agree with the part about Occam's razor, but you failed to prove which viewpoint is simpler- therefore your comment has no meaning. Again, I clearly stated that my belief in Deja Vu is MY OPINION and that it proves nothing.

I completely disgree about saying that we "must make assumptions". That is completely false. Why bother experimenting and proving theories when accoring to you all we have to do is assume everything.

By your definition of fact, there can apparently be no proof of anything, so what's the point in arguing?

I am simply asking a question. Please forgive me for not having all of the answers to the riddles of the universe, but I am curious by nature and feel compelled to ask questions so that I might expand my knowledge. Without proof there is only conjecture and assumptions.

Edit to add: Also, where did I say anything about my "definition of fact"?? Please do not make false claims as to what I said or as to what I think. Thank You.

Where's your proof that the sky is blue? It's actually green, everyone's light sensors are wired wrong!! I have yet to see one shred of proof otherwise.

EDIT: I can't believe people are holding "deja vu" up as an example of time fluidity. People give way too much credit to the human brain sometimes.

Now you're cooking with gas! I think that you are simply being absurdist and that your post is a lame swipe at my intellect, but you are actually proving my point. The fact is that we do not understand the basic nature of the universe, and our currently "accepted" models of it are all based on assumptions.

I don't believe deja vu to 'simply' be misfirings in the brain. That may be what happens during it, but who's to say those are MISfirings?

And for duckie, the reason I believe this is because a large majority of the times I experience deja vu, I can distinctly remember when I had the dream (all my deja vu 'visions' are when I'm sleeping) that showed the event that just happened. It's up to 7-10 days before, while most of the time it's only a couple of days prior. Can neural misfirings create a false memory? Maybe, but I don't believe it.

And some of it could be coincidence since during a night we dream multiple times, and all the dreams are just our brain going over our short term memory, and converting some of it to long term, and then making false connections between disconnected memories, which is why our dreams sometimes are so fantastic.

However, I remember a few events that I had no way of knowing would even come close to happening - one deja vu moment was when I was on my way back to Lubbock, and I-20 was backed up for a good hour or so before Abilene, and I had to cut over the median and use the service road. Why I say I could not have known was because of all the times I've driven to Texas Tech, I-20 has NEVER been backed up that badly, and it never has since then either.

and the very nature of your point of view shows that, according to your perspective, there will never be such a thing as fact, because this point of view is just like a dog chasing its own tail...every time a breakthrough is made you will say "well, we still do not understand the nature of the universe" and so no facts can exist in your point of view...which is why Duckie's point was correct, that at some point in time you must assume that what you know currently is fact, so that you may conjecture and advance your knowledge...simply dismissing things because YOU can't explain the science behind it does not negate the very real possibility that it is factual...were people to sit back and say "oh, we don't understand how the universe works so let's just sit here in the dark cave and not try to understand how to create fire and how to create tools..." then where would civilization be...imo, you're just an ignorant troll trying to inflame people with ludicrous statements that are impossible to be proven...it's like creating a thread saying "i can prove God exists" or saying "i can prove macro-evolution happened" or saying "you can't prove that we're really not in the Matrix" and so on and so forth...either you accept certain things in the scientific community as facts, and you move on trying to expand your knowledge based upon what you believe to be factual, or you sit in the dark and slow down progress and research...clearly you've got your blinders on and no one can prove anything to you because you already "know" that what the rest of the world takes as fact you say is just an assumption because nothing can be proven...take your trollishness elsewhere
