Would you buy a Z68 board without LUCID?

This board is on sale:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-13128494-L04A

I am very tempted to buy it.

Is there a con?

I have a SSD and an HDD to use the intel smart response.

Is there a better board at this point?

IDK, It'd feel a bit like buying a P67 at that point. Does intel smart response perform better than a combined SSD and HDD scenario.

That is what I was thinking, with out the addition of the Virtu, it doesnt seem to hold much over the p67's other than the SSD Cacheing.

Although the P67 UD4 is still a bit more after its rebate even.

Yes. Yes I would.
Virtu's useless anyways.

I'm using virtu and I'm not even sure what it does....something about power savings and using the i5's gpu to transcode video?? Smart response is definitely worth it though.

Lucid Virtu is the technology to combine integrated graphics and a discrete card (so you can switch between them on the fly).

But reviews show, that you wont miss it ever, since there is no case, where you would be better with the integrated.

If you go for the UD3H, Microcenter has it for $135 + shipping, after $15 rebate. Just happened to be searching for Z68 boards myself.

http://www.microcenter.com/single_pr...0364085#rebate

I only wish Gigabyte made their mATX boards black instead of baby blue.

Untrue. It does help out a lot, just not for playing videogames. It's been proven in reviews a lot that for transcoding videos the iGPU is way faster than the use of a GTX580. Virtu is for deciding the PC needs to use the iGPU for transcoding and your big GFX card for playing videogames. What GPU for what task. It does hardly matter combining the two for playing videogames.

You need to decide what you want from your mobo and then make the choice.
