Ripjaws, hands down. They'll easily do 1866 with tighter timings than those Snipers will do.

You could also look at the Ripjaw X set that's 2x4GB, 8-8-8-24, 1.50v. Those should do nicely as well hopefully (got some on their way to me right now).

Those are good sets, but this one

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231428
will give you just as good performance for day to day use, and will save you at least $20. The only time you will notice any difference is if you are benchmarking.

I'd like to ask a different noob ram question. I just noticed that i have a 4gb kit of geil 1600 with timings of 8-8-8-28, voltage 1.6 and a 4 gb ballistix sport kit with timmings of 10-10-10-28, voltage 1.5. will the differences of voltage and timing negatively effect my system? and if so, in what areas?

I'm replacing 2 kits of the red Ripjaws linked above (4x2GB) with the above kit. Although I needed blue memory, as my board is blue, and my water cooling tubes will be blue.

But honestly though, they're a great compromise between speed and cost.

This actually SHOULD be in your own thread.....

But yes it will negatively affect things. 10-10-10-28 is HORRIBLE bad timings. You will ALWAYS be limited by your weakest link. So those Ballistix are holding back your Geil sticks (quite badly).

With RAM, you should always try to do a perfect match, or nothing at all. Unless its a machine you don't care about (like a Dell).

EDIT:
And didn't mean to double post, but seeing as how its 2 separate issues, I guess I can be forgiven.

Basically don't over do memory much unless you're benchmarking or have a CPU with a locked multiplier. Half decent memory to amazing memory will all be the same for day to day use.

Mushkin Blackline 9-9-9-24, 1.35v

Mushkin Blackline 8-9-8-24, 1.60v

Either of those would also work. Both should overclock decently well too. Not too sure how well the 1.35v kit scales with voltage though. I know the GSkill ECO kits (also at 1.35v) only responded up to around 1.45-1.50v or so. These might be about the same.
