No, merely handling a controlled substance is not illegal. Many "controlled substances" are legitimate medications after all.

It's not illegal to hand your wife her valium after breakfast, for example.

OT: Urine tests are pretty bunk already, can't imagine the waves of false positives that will follow should this be used by LEO/employers. I read a story of police-issued "cocaine tests" (the little packets they put the substance in, and shake, you see it on Cops all the time) that would test 'positive' for cocaine simply by leaving them exposed to air.

ehhh...if you want to get very, very techinical...it is illeagal for you to touch or handle your wife's valium or any percription. The perscription is in her name and only she should be touching it. You could pick it up from the pharmacy...but then you sign for it and it is documented that you are handling it at that time. This of course is not true if you have power of attourney set up for it or gardianship over a minor. However, if you were pulled over and caught with it in your car and your wife was not in the car...you'd probablly be looked at very suspect. I would certainly hope the cop would use some comon sense, but common sense is not a common virtue. The cop could bring you in if they wanted.

No, it isn't. And it isn't illegal for you to have your wife's medication in your car.

..No wonder the police get away with so much harassment.

Right, so going to the cupboard, getting out 2 tablets for your wife and taking them to her is illegal?

Right.

Ok.

Sorry, but no. Anyone with half a brain, I swear...

Look into it...the only reason I know about any of this is because my wife had to go though special training and licensing to be able to trasport people's perscriptions across town.

In the eyes of the law regarding the perscription drugs just having them in your posession is the intent to take them yourself. I didn't say it made sense...

Since the majority of banknotes in most major countries have traces of illegal drugs on them, this will cause an AWFUL lot of false positives.

Edit:
Snopes says this is true.

Well, lets see. They could have you wash your hands which would remove the contamination and still get a reading from the natural sweet/oil that continues to seep out of your pores. Kind of simple and cheap in fact while also limiting germs on the fingerprint reader.

I took out the opinionated BS to get to this part. Here are the population statistics for the UK. I leave it to the non-high individuals to read that and figure out how Viridian is pulling numbers out of his butt. Hint: There are barely more than 62M people in the UK.
