Computer shuts off when GPU's are in SLi. - Page 2

A friend of mine has the same psu running a pair of 285's and an i7 and the psu is squealing and begging for mercy. At full load, killowatt thing claims more power being used than psu is rated at. Not sure how efficiency and all that comes to play.

Also, member on here Cranatan, blew the psu and took along half his hardware running a pair of 570 twin frozr II, an i7 920, all on an Antec CP850.

750 is virtually bare minimum for sli 570s and a quad core, his wattage is not "fine"

with power limiter off and furmurk plus prime 95, he probably would be pulling right around 750 watts

570 ~ 230W, Core i7 ~ 200W, So even at full load thats 640W and 90W is for the rest of the system assuming everything is 100% loaded. 750W should be enough but if PSU if defective then it need replacement or RMA time.

OH MY GOD.

You don't need a frickin 1000w PSU to run 570x2

I bet a 650w Corsair could run 2 570's NO PROBLEM. People blow power requirements right out of the water.

If they do, I'm gonna say the PSU is at fault here.
I'll test them again tonight but they worked independently fine this weekend.

It's three years old.

Damn don't have a multimeter on me.

Damn. I don't want to blow it. Thanks for the info.

According to PSU guide I should be good.

I thought I had some headroom. I'll see if I can borrow a killawatt.
