just a quick question, don't wanna kill my cpu...

yeah, been overclocking my CPU for a while now (the RAM is oc'ed aswell) if i turn 1 core off (for less heat lmao) will i have to put less voltage in?, i just want to know if the max voltage it will handle before it starts degradation will change or can i keep my cpu @3.5 ghz @ 1.24 Vcore? (3 cores) (900 mhz improvement on each core)

According to AMD, up to 1.425v is fine, assuming your temperatures are under control (I would say less than 60°C under load, AMD says absolute max is 71°).

eh, my temps aren't even undercontrol on stock lol, reason i disabled the fourth core, even with arctic silver 5 and stock cooler it got to 80 C with prime at auto voltage..., so i changed the voltage from auto (where it was at 1.38 to 1.24) and now the max i get is 63° C that's with only 3 cores enabled. Thanks for the feedback, +rep just wasn't sure whether i would have to put my vcore even lower lol.

Oh. How come you haven't got an aftermarket cooler?

Lol, don't OC without aftermarket cooler bro. AMD stock coolers aren't good. Coolermaster Hyper 212+ will drop your temps to around 60-65 on load. =) And it's cheap-cheap!

Disabling one core results in less power consumption and thus less voltage the cpu needs to function, a safe voltage would be 1.4v max and the most important factor that contributes to cpu degradation is extreme High/Low temperatures but still cpus are very hard to kill.
