$1000 gaming rig build

Thread Starter
Ok a few of you may have seen my thread on the intel board about my build that I will be doing ... well my budget took a hit, and now im back to AMD. So I come here asking if all of my parts work together and if there is anyway I can possibly save money in areas.

Case:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119197 Cooler master HAF 922
Monitor:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824009261 Acer 21.5" 1080p
Motherboard:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128498 GIGABYTE Z68X-UD3H-B3
Cpu:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115078 intel i3 2100
Gpu:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102945 Sapphire 6950 dirt 3 edition
Ram:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231427 4gb (2gb x 2) 1600 G.skill ripjaws x
Psu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371020 Antec 550W modular
Hdd:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822152185 Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB 7200RPM
Cpu cooler:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835103065 Cooler Master 212+

Also this build is going to be 100% there is no more chance of budget hits or anything of the sort.

Update #1: changed the Psu.
Update #2: changed the cpu to an intel 2100 changed the mobo and the monitor.

Dump that Coolmax POS and get a good brand. Trust me, it's worth the extra money.

Nice case but it won't look to good if you watercool.(I am a BIG FAN of cooler master.)
Sweet monitor but I suggest getting a LED Backlit.(Just my opinion)
Good choice on the motherboard.
The core clock speed on the AMD Phenom II 965 Black edition.Should e an easy one to oc'
Good choice on the GPU as you can play most newer games on high-maxish
Nice choice on the ram fast speed. And good amount.
Best hard drive ever-I have one an I LOVE IT
You can't get the 212+ because it is socket intel not amd
Get this it's an amazing cooler. AND it's compatible.
PSU?It's OK

This one will let you do CF later on, but if you don't plan on doing that, go for a 550w like this one:

Yea that's water cooled cpu cooler I'm not doing water and that's pretty expensive. also I didn't even think about my cpu cooler not being compatible I just took it from the intel build I had made so I guess ill start looking for a cpu cooler unless someone links one.
Edit: .... I just checked the product page for the 212+ and yes it works with am3 cpu so I'm good with that.

Edit: ok that 2nd psu you linked should be fine even though its a bit more expensive thank you very much .

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131655 Is a better motherboard to OC on. Switch out the monitor for this I have two and they are great.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824009261
Power supply suggestion. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139028 If you are looking at going modular you will have to spend a lot more than $68...

The 212+ isn't intel socket...It is either intel or amd I have one and it works great for the price.

If you're on a $1000 budget, there's absolutely no reason for you not to get a 2500K. There are two microcenters in Georgia (not sure how close to you), you should go and pick up a 2500K+$100 mobo for ~$250-300 after tax.
