Can ASUS EAH6950 DCII/2DI4S/2GD5 be unlocked to 6970 ?

hi ,
I m planning to buy ASUS EAH6950 2GB DCII/2DI4S/2GD5. I tried to search reviews online but found only 2-3. Those reviews did mention that this card has a dual bios switch. But then on newegg.com a buyer said in his comments that the bios switch cannot be used for unlocking it to 6970 .... is it true ?

Link : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=14-121-431&SortField=0&SummaryType=0&Pagesize=10&PurchaseMark=&SelectedRating=-1&VideoOnlyMark=False&VendorMark=&IsFeedbackTab=true&Page=1#scrollFullInfo

Buyer's comments :
Quote:
Pros: Reasonable price.
One of the best aftermarket coolers if you over clock.
Takes most of what I throw at it with ease.

Cons: SIZE, this thing is HUGE, make sure you case can fit it!
The switch on this card IS NOT for dual bios, you cannot flash the bios to a 6970 card, if you're planning on doing that get a reference card not this model. (see other thoughts)

Other Thoughts: Though you cannot unlock the shaders/bios in this card.
This card is an over clock king, it can easily beat the 6970 when over clocked and still runs cool as a cucumber.

Now, since it contains the dual bios switch it can be unlocked to 6970 ... so what do you guys have to say about it ?

Also can some1 give me links to reviews other than tweaktown and also tell me which 6950's from different manufacturers has dual bios switch ?

The reference 6950 unlocks to a 6970, most non-reference 6950s will not.

AFAIK the non-ref models which have a dual bios switch also get unlocked to 6970. For e.g. sapphire hd6950 2gB dirt 3 edition and msi hd6950 2gB twin frozr 3 can be easily unlocked to 6970. Here is link for non-ref unlock : http://www.overclock.net/amd-ati/1070678-unlock-oc-6950-tf3-twin-frozr.html

yes, it can be

you just dont have the recovery bios if something goes wrong
9 times out of 10 though it will come up with a error if its the wrong bios for the card
i have the bios for it if you need it

Mine has a dual bios switch, I tried unlocking it (not sure if I did anything wrong) the first time something happened and blue screened on me so I flipped the switch and all was well. Going to RMA it to Asus because it runs a bit hot on idle and then hopefully unlock that one, and hopefully mines just not so old it only has a bios switch because its a older revision

In one of the switch option, you can only use one of the DVIs with all display ports, the other way of the switch enables the both DVIs and disables all display ports. It is written at the back of your box...

Added picture from Asus website (this is the largest image that I found on the internet )

i dunno but thats what the switch is suppose to be for, the monitors, but you can change the bios to a 6970 version
only thing is i started noticing my other monitor blinking after doing it
the main monitor didnt... i dont know if it has something to do with it being the old vga flat screen or what but it did
but anyways i did change the bios on my friends 6950 asus dcii and everything else seemed to work fine... oced the memory and stuff (changed to the stock memory clocks of the 6970 dc2) and ran furmark for about an hour and a half along with prime95 so it ran fine, besides the dual monitor part i just told you about
i have a 6970 dc2 so i cant do it myself
