only thing is i started noticing my other monitor blinking after doing it
the main monitor didnt... i dont know if it has something to do with it being the old vga flat screen or what but it did
but anyways i did change the bios on my friends 6950 asus dcii and everything else seemed to work fine... oced the memory and stuff (changed to the stock memory clocks of the 6970 dc2) and ran furmark for about an hour and a half along with prime95 so it ran fine, besides the dual monitor part i just told you about
i have a 6970 dc2 so i cant do it myself

So you can flash a 6970s bios to the 6950 or you can just unlock shaders of your original bios? Thats pretty sweet

yes you can put the 6970 bios on the 6950 to open the shaders. but then you have to oc the clocks to make it like a 6970 which you dont have to worry it will run fine.
use the voltage tweak inside smart doctor to raise the voltage to the same as a 6970 dcII
i used sapphire trixx to do the ocing on his because of the custom fan speed option

http://www.2shared.com/file/id2M6lu-/modded.html
there's the 6970dcii bios file
use atiwinflash to do it

http://www.2shared.com/file/Tx9QVjLB...faultbios.html
theres the default bios in case something goes wrong but nothing should go wrong unless you use the wrong file or the power goes out while doing it... since thats the right file the only thing that can go wrong is the power outage... so i wouldnt prefer doing it while its storming lol... it only takes a few seconds to do it

make sure you have a back up gpu that you can put in just in case, since the dciis dont have a bios switch

trixx custom fan option:

I had heard that the unlockable 6950's had pretty much disappeared, after a fix from AMD. Does anyone know if this is true?

hmmm, i have been on the fence about wanting to pick up another... i just want to make sure i get one that unlocks.

on the other hand, it seems that would be a bit unnecessary if i'm only gaming at 1920x1080

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this little problem I am having with this card and if I should RMA it or am I missing something with the Eyefinity setup.
I have a four monitor setup one samsung 27 " DVI and a 18" mitsubishi VGA, with two Acer 23" setup with active display port to DVI adapters in position 1 and 2 as in the illustration earlier in this thread bottom being 1. The BIOS is in the original position as it was provided (tried the other position and it didnt help).

Now what happens is when I boot up my PC it doesnt recocgnise the 2 Acers with the active adapters.
I checked with ASUS and they said this was because you need to have at least one Display port monitor for Eyefinity to recognise the setup and referred me to AMD's site on the subject.

When I checked the AMD site it said you need at least one Display port monitor setup but an active adapter was equivalent to having this. I refered that back to ASUS and they said DUH!!!! dont know then.

The PC will display on the Acers but only if I plug them in while it is booting up, it then will work without a problem. Or if I reboot immediately they also work. Its just a bit of a problem diving under the desk to boot up the PC every time its a cold boot.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

@ bazzj ... Ken1649 is our local expert ALL things helpful and will most likely have your answer tongue.gif ... but until he comes along, since I just stayed at a Holiday Inn last night I'll give it a shot and ask are you 100% sure the adapter you are using is an ACTIVE adapter ... as I know many have used PASSIVE adapters only to wonder what the difference is and why did they have issues with this ... so maybe double check on that for now ? Other than that, I've lit the Ken1649 signal so he should see it if he's within 200 miles of the City and will be solving your issues shortly so hang tight. thumb.gif

The BIOS + Resolution switch, other than BIOS switch, it simply toggle DVI-Dual Link (2560x1600) or DVI Single Link (1920x1200).

For ASUS DCII 6950; it can drive 6 monitors simultaneously as extended desktop or Eyefinity Group from 6 monitors. 4 displays with native DisplayPort and 2 monitors with legacy device.

Without knowing your exact monitor models and available input (DP, DVI, HDMI, D-Sub) can not tell for sure why it didn't work in your case.

If all 4 monitors have no native DisplayPort, you will 2 active adapters. This is the active adapter;

Accell B087B-005B UltraAV DisplayPort to DVI-D Single-Link Active
