6970 + 6950 1gb crossfire ? - Page 2

all the ones ive found that do unlock or are already are priced at near 6970 levels which sorta defeats the purpose.

this one looks like it cools well. maybe put this one in the top slot ? or would I have to go reference because of space ? this one seems to fit the bill as far as pricing and brand quality. i know the top card can get pretty hot.

No. You will end you with a CF setup between 6970CF and 6950CF, but your CF setup will run at HD6950 Speeds, since CF always run as the speed of the slowest card, remember HD6970 has more shaders.

And dont crossfire HD 6970 with a 1GB card, dont know how that works, but i think your HD6970 will only be able to use 1gb.

If you going to crossfire, buy a 2GB card HD6950 or HD6970.

all reviewers here say this one unlocks. certainly it's not guaranteed, but this is what I'll likely go with.

That's not true. Cards can run at different speeds.
